I supoose as with everything, it is easier to understand and empathise when you or someone very close to you has been through the same thing, as you have that experience to draw on. Not that people who haven't been through the same thing can't sympathise and offer emotional and practical support (i...

Okay, this is just a theory, and by the people I mention, I mean people who are neurotypicals and had/have no siblings/parents with any kind of isssues (Downs, autism, depression, anything that causes mental strain/issues). And of course, had a happy childhood. And by "getting it", I mean, understan...

Be cold and calm and polite. He (your dad) only sees you about four times a year, so tell him that. Be polite - "Dad, we only see each other four times a year, and I want to tell you how I'm doing at school, not arguing over a job that I'm going to get, in what, three years time or longer, if I go t...

I benefitted from a diagnosis. It's like finally knowing where you fit. Autistic people have an increased risk of suicide. It's like this: -Autistic people are far more likely to have issues with anxiety and depression. -People with dpression are more likely to commit suicide. Therefore, yes, autist...

For me (and this is just really silly), but it's the lack of spatial awareness (i.e. being clumsy), so I misjudge where walls and doorways are, and crash into things and bash things (and me) and it's just down-right annoying. Other than that, I'm okay.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK!! !! !! !! And I'm confusing myself. When he left, I didn't feel anything. I don't know. I do the 'not-knowing' thing too. When my grandfather died I was like that. It's okay, not knowing is fine. I say 'I don't know' so much, one teacher joked that it's like my catch-phr...

With writing, you either say something or you don't. You have to express emotion to get it across. You can order your thoughts, think about what you want to say. There is no dreaded 'middle-man' (only expression I could think of) of the actual physical human themself - there is no eye contact/gestur...

Okay, so it's like this. I'm a Scout (well now I'm an Explorer Scout), and have been a keen member for the last five years. I really like it because I enjoy the type of activites; the being able to talk to nice adults and the like minded kids. Plus, I want to be a Young Leader. Not to mention what w...
