I've no idea what happened; there are different mods on chat than on this site. Someone may come along and tell you more. I never go on the chat so don't know much/anything about it except the occasional post here by people complaining about being kicked out and not knowing why. Yeah, gathered that...

So, this made me sad. I'd popped in to the IRC chat room to, well, chat... Almost immediately someone started in on me, and I'm still failing to understand why. I apologized a few times, which didn't work, so I shot back a bit... I was actually called, 'Too autist' in what I was thinking was an auti...

I've taught off and on just for the fun of it -- Random weirdness I don't understand fully: I've offered to teach for free, get less turnout than when I charge absurd amounts. Anyway, don't think I'd be willing to make a job of it -- Unreliable, and I'm getting older-ish and my body doesn't hold up ...

Huh. Thought I had posted in this thread... Must've been another hyperlexia discussion. It's actually the only "label" I've ever recieved... When I started public school, it was the late 70's in rural New Mexico and Asperger's wasn't even a thing. The school waffled back and forth about whether I sh...

This was with a big national company, with a huge focus on drinking the Kool-Aid and their Corporate Culture. I'd probably end up being better off with a smaller organization with a bit more room for eccentricity.

To spin a positive, anyway.

Ugh, unexpected overtime can really stress me out -- As already mentioned, it has to do with expectations and routine. Here's an extra little bit of crazy: I'll pretty regularly have to stay late for my job. Patient comes in at the last second, there's an emergency, whatever... So, I experimented wi...

The batting averages, home runs, ERAs, Win-Loss records, etc.. from my 1985 Topps set (When I was a kid, at least. These days I might get the year off on, say, Jay Buhner's HR total.)

Then I got strat-o-matic and started memorizing THOSE cards. Gah.

English is my first language. It's technically my only language. I've been studying German on my own for about a year now, so I could say that I speak German, but not fluently. Anyway, I feel that German is just straightforward enough that it feels easier than English. It's very much a "you mean wh...

My current system involves an upstairs alarm, a downstairs alarm, and my phone alarm. I move the phone alarm around because I've been known to track down an alarm, turn it off, and pass right back out without being aware of it if it's in the same place for too many consecutive days. I'm guessing it'...

I've been an infrequent lurker for a while, but reaching a point where I think actively touching base with a professional regarding an official diagnosis wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. I'm another middle-aged guy, high-IQ, dramatically underacheiving, but usually successful enough and gett...

I'm that one. They tease me, make jokes about me, and generally treat me like a two-legged joke. But let the system go down, and it's all "Please, Mr. Fnord ... how can we help you, Mr. Fnord ... thank you, Mr. Fnord ..." Being the de-facto computer boffin for everyone I know is probably whe...

Yeah, I'd have been perfectly fine with getting passed up on a job because my technical skills needed some brushing up.

Being told, 'No, you can't have The Dream Job because you suck as a person' is a little harder to take.

I'm paraphrasing, yes, but it's what it feels like.

Hello. I'm not really new, but think I run at around a post per year so I'm sure the background information will be new-to-most. I was recently smacked down -- I've been trying for the past couple of years to transition out of the medical field and back into information tech (Still a bit undecided w...

I work in the medical field, ICU/Emergency medicine.

Attwood had a great bit in his Big Book that described me well. Essentially, I can lose it over stupid trivial matters and be rock steady calm in extreme situations.

I didn't know these were trends, heh.
