Good. I talk about myself a lot too, and people don't mind for the same reason they don't mind listening to you. It's interesting to hear! The exception is when I repeat myself; I increasingly hear, "Yes, I know, you've told me that before." So now I just say, "I know I've probably told you this bef...

"Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds." But... All the books I possess (around a thousand, maybe more) were printed at least in the thousands of copies, often tens of thousands, so I doubt that I've acquired any book that somebody else doesn't have. The most rare would probably ...

I hope it's OK to give a non-sarcastic, useful response to a valid question. Are Wrong Planet posters in an especially septic mood today? I assume the question was asked in good faith; it's flip responses like the ones I waded through to get here that turn me off of forums, and I think my days on th...

I feel alone and separated wherever I go. That's the way I usually feel, too. I've been online for 9 years now, and have pretty well decided that the Internet is a lonely place for people who think. But the "outside" world is the same way. It's almost impossible to find anybody who wants to carry o...

I'm not mechanically inclined, but I do that with written material. If I see an article in the newspaper that is badly written (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.), I will correct it. I used to work as a proofreader and errors in printed material still bother me. I do the same. I love the English...

He still has an occasional meltdown but the school deals with them well. They let him go into the hallway and cool off then come back into class. Ever since that teacher took the extra time to make him stay after then walk him home he has never asked to be sent home. This is so great. That school p...

I'm sort of bipolar, but I only experience the depression, never the mania. I've found several lists of famous and creative people with bipolar disorder or depression. My theory is that depression is often caused or at least helped along by being smart enough to see how stupid this world is and how...

i miss when women got dressed up and wore fur to go downtown or travel, even though i wasn't there. <3 I miss it, and I was there--at least from 1940 on. It does look odd even to me, though, when in movies from the 40s and even the 50s, women wear gloves when they go out. But I'm sure my mom did, t...

Not a day goes by that I don't feel grateful for the wonderful teachers and schools I've been fortunate enough to enjoy. I hope and wish that your son may find himself in as good a situation soon, and will be thinking of him and you.

If it is a pattern of events (which bipolar would be) then the pattern would cause the awareness, which would lead to the thoughts. And it is quite possible that there are still occasions where you are in a good mood for good reasons, and have the pattern recognition kick in and assume it will lead...

Pattern causing thoughts, or thoughts causing pattern?

Neither, I think; just familiarity with borderline bipolar disorder. I know from experience, that's all.

The only thing wrong is that there aren't more people making beautiful music today. I particularly admire the clarinet men. I listen to Cole Porter or George Gershwin musicals and am appalled at the loss of sophistication that has occurred in the past half-century. Even in the 60s there was s...

I am 31, 32 in May. I look forward to being 33 as I like double numbers like that. I felt disappointed to turn 67 and leave 66 behind. Double numbers have a comfortable kind of jolly feel to me. I don't know that I'd noticed that till I read your post. I'm not particularly fascinated by numbers as ...

If what you're experiencing is hypomania--I'm very familiar with it. It scares me and I always think, "I'm feeling too good." I know that every time, a bout of deep depression is in store, maybe a day away, maybe less. I hope the happy feeling will last for you! It is a great feeling, no doubt about...

You are truly cool in your taste. Mine is classical, but I love some of the 30s music and grew up hearing the 40s stuff on the radio. I have a friend twenty years younger than me (I'm 67 now) who likes the music of those eras, too. He shares a lot of Asperger traits, I'm proud to say.

I just turned 67 (sixty-seven, a six followed by a seven) a couple of weeks ago. I have felt approx. 35 since about age fifteen.

Sixty-seven years on the wrong planet is a long time.
