Thanks, he has a laptop at home that he shares with his sister, so I'll talk to his teacher. What concerns me with that though is he won't be writing as much, so mob developing the skills he's lacking in. Or do I just leave that for his OT to handle? God I wish his AS has been picked up sooner so he...

My aspie son starts grade 4 this week and his psychologist has suggested because of his lack of motor skills etc (he writes with his shoulder not hand and it wears him out quickly) that he types or has a scribe for his work/homework. Would a tablet be a good idea do you think? Teaching him to type?

I can't see the videos, but I there's now way I'd be doing it to a child of any age. You never know who's around to pick them up (not to mention the damage done by being abandoned) I've threatened it, not that it's really stopped any fighting/shouting from the backseat. My mother put my brother out ...

My son has been doing quite well taking 5-hydroxytryptophan, we've noticed less meltdowns at school and at home, maybe that something to look into?

DS8 has this year tried the alarm mat (80% success rate) and minirin wafers (60% success rate) and neither have worked, it's the reason I took him to the paediatrician and ended up with ASD diagnosis. She thinks it's a behavioural issue and until it's a priority for him he will keep wetting, that sa...

I ask my kids if we need to chop off a limb to help cure their minor scratch/bruise/mosquito bite. Can't remember saying it about taking anything though

Yes, yes and yes, they are his issues too. I pretty much gave up this week. It ways 'wellbeing week' which is supposed to mean no homework but his class get it on a Friday. He only has 3 weeks of year 3 left anyway. His little sister pulls out the math book he only used for I term at his old school ...

Wivil, you are exactly right about the noises, I usually have to get his sister to go far away because she makes too much noise and usually his pencils aren't right. Adamantium, doing his 15 minutes yesterday he suddenly didn't know how else to write 12:30, how many minutes were in an hour etc, nor ...

My son is overly affectionate, he's gotten in trouble at school for hugging teachers, and we had to talk to him about appropriate kissing because he'd walk up to people and kiss what he could reach, so when he was butt height, it was awkward. He needs physical reassurance when he thinks he's done so...

My son is 8 and still believes in Santa, I know I didn't by the time I was 6 so I have no idea what to do about it, he's big into imagination play and has issues with reality vs fiction

Yay! She said do 15 minutes of it and she'll try to get him to do some at school. Hopefully not at lunch.
He sees the OT this week so maybe they'll work out his programme with the support teacher to do it with her or something

Hi! I've just gone through a similar situation with my 8year old son, and though it was a relief more that doubt of the diagnosis, I went through most of the other stages of grief over it, not so much anger, but I'm sure it was there with the guilt of not doing anything sooner. I know things are dif...

Thanks everyone. I'll talk to his teacher today, she did ask me Friday how he was going with homework so I'll bring it up again. The workbook is questions, some addition and multiplication, some shapes, fractions, patterns etc, fill in the blank sort of thing. I don't see much of his work. The schoo...

Yes he's 8, it's a workbook. I've started doing it this way because of work, he goes to after school care and by the time we get home it's basically dinner and bed. I think it's just maths, because before I went back to work it was the same when we spread it out. According to his report card he's at...

My son is in year 3 and every week has 2 pages of math book, spelling to write out 4 times, times tables to write out 3 times (whichever number that week) and either religion, history or science a few sentences. He's really good at the rote spelling, times tables, and happy to do the rest, but that ...
