Tory_canuck, I was trying to post a description of how I got over my own needle-threading thing but my explanation was getting too wordy and it makes much more sense with pictures. I found a link which explains how to use a needle threader. It is a wonderful little invention which I thought was just...

Thank you so much for your thoughtful responses!! ! It is so good to know baby J and I are not alone in facing these challenges. Thankfully, he's wonderful with a computer but we'll have to wait until grade 1 to put that in his IEP. Annotated_alice, my son actually asked me 'why do people have to wr...

Hi, I don't know if you've ever heard of or used the 5 point scale which is supposed to help diffuse the situation before the person gets to the point of losing it. There are two books that I know about it.... "A "5" Could Make Me Lose Control!" and "The Incredible 5 Point Scale" both by Kari Dunn B...

Hello, My son does really poorly with his fine motor skills. He is 5 years old and still unable to button his own clothes, can't hold a pencil/crayon and can't cut with a scissors. He did a test regarding his fine motor skills and he was found to be in the bottom 1% of all of the students his age. H...

I have been allergic to fish from as far back as I can remember, so I know that when I was pregnant with baby J that none ever touched my lips.

My boy is 4 and this is the first year this santa thing came up for him. He was quite afraid of someone coming into the house when we're sleeping. He also told me that reindeer don't fly and he thought that he couldn't get to play on his train simulator because 'santa' wouldn't like it. This is how ...

The doc has a lot of autistic patients... so that would be unfair to the others who were there before us. It was actually the first time that we had to wait. That alone broke the 'routine' and made things worse.

He's 4 yrs old... We're in the process of getting our twinrix (hepatitis A & B) vaccines before we go away. It's a series of 3 shots. For the very first one I tried explaining but he struggled and his anxiety level was soaring. I gave him chocolate as an incentive but the wait in the waiting roo...

I've been having difficulties with potty training my 4 yr old too.... I finally had some success with getting him to poop in the potty earlier this week. :-) What I have been doing is putting on the underwear UNDER his diaper. Yes it might (and does sometimes) get messy... but he hates feeling messy...

For me... I mainly watched people's mouths when they were talking. It's still easier for me to focus on someone's mouth. I can still remember the first time someone forced me to 'look' in their eyes... it was my special ed teacher and I was about 4 or 5 yrs old. I threw up all over her. It was one o...

Yes, but he didn't think it warranted going in to see him. He recommended the lansoyl which caused more problems than anything else. :-(

My 4 yr old has some serious problems with going to the bathroom regularly. It started off with him throwing up from the smell of his own BM. Then he started holding it in. Combine that with little or no dietary fibre and it has now reached to the point now where when he needs to poop, he ends up th...
