I wasn't especially suspicious, but I wouldn't let anyone touch me. According to my parents, even when I was a baby I hated being held. I was fine with strangers until they tried to hug me, or pinch my cheek, or whatever. As soon as they did that, I would run off and hide until they promised not to ...

For years, I avoided shaking hands by feigning having something on my hands or having a cold. Eventually I forced myself to get used to it. Still don't like it, don't like being touched at all by people I don't know well, but I can deal with it. Now, hugging is another story. I seem to keep meeting ...

I've always struggled with being organized with the "mundane" activities that everyone else seems to find easy. I forget to eat quite regularly (I slipped and skipped breakfast today), my house probably never saw the use of a vacuum cleaner in the first two years I lived here, etc. I would say "I sh...

I work as a coder, but I have some very non-techie interests. I opted for the job I did simply because (a) I enjoyed it, (b) I was good at, and (c) it was easy and left me free to spend time on my other interests. As this job has become less and less appealing over the last few years, I've been cont...

My stepmother is a solid five inches taller than my dad. I also worked with a VP at a previous company who was 5'2" and never had trouble getting women. They are out there.

If I look back at the percentage of people I consider "friends" as opposed to acquaintances, it is probably 75% women. Part of it is the competitiveness between males that an earlier poster mentioned, and which I have no interest or capacity to be part of. A larger part is that women have tended to ...

I do this. Even the most basic stuff like ordering food at a restaurant, I rehearse how to place my order, what the server might say, how I might respond, etc. If I'm doing something where the interaction isn't quite so scripted, I will spend days leading up to it rehearsing every possible thing I c...

Friends are the people I actually enjoy spending time with, and willingly divulge information about myself to. These are exceedingly rare (I have two right now). Acquaintances are people I know but won't make an effort to be around. These are mostly friends of friends, coworkers, etc.

Former runner here. In my twenties I ran marathons. My typical routine was 45-50 miles a week. Did that for about six years, and had to stop. I was doing some real damage to my knees, and my doctor eventually sat me down for a reality check. Now I hike instead. I've come to enjoy a nice long-ish hik...

I'm pretty picky, but more toward texture than taste in many cases. I've found two things that have worked well: 1) Eat plainly. I rarely use spices or crazy methods of preparation. Nowadays when eating out I find most places use too much spice in their foods and it is somewhat overwhelming. I just ...

I've only been drunk once, when I was ten (tequila, of all things). Once every ten years, I try drinking again to see if I have learned to enjoy it. Hated it at 20, hated it at 30. No idea what my tolerance is like, I don't enjoy it enough to even get through one drink.

I ran a few in my early-to-mid twenties. My best time was 4:08:27. Never helped that I would alter my pace to avoid being in a pack |
