But you did say that the main reason for seeking a diagnosis is to improve your relationship with your mother, not because of severity which would imply impairment. You mentioned that you think you wouldn't have much use for it beside this reason, so whatever traits you do have the implication is t...

I don't think you can "force" yourself to have special interests or out of special interests, all you can do is train yourself to spend less time on them if it's detrimental to your life or work (or, even better, turn them into a career). Usually, when I do manage to grow out of my special interests...

I know the feeling. I have often been told I'm cold-hearted and insensitive because I don't get upset about relatives dying. Which doesn't really help because I am bothered that I can't get upset like I know I'm supposed to, but I don't, so I don't need people rubbing it in my face and making me fee...

until I recently came across some literature on the female-specific manifestations of the traits for the syndrome and discovered that about 95% of them fit me to a T and also pretty much explain everything about my childhood and adolescence. A lot of neurotypical women and men can fit the so-called...

Thanks for bringing up this topic because I'm sort of the same. I'm actually pretty good with facial expressions and voices, at least as far as I'm aware. But I was a lot worse when I was a child/teenager, particularly with not being able to tell when people were just bored with me ranting about my ...

Going to university for me was a massive shock because of the lack of structure. It took me three years to learn how to cope with it, and I think the main problem was that at the time I was not aware of how dependent on structure and routines I had been my whole life, and when they were taken away f...

I am the same too. If I have an issue that bothers me, no matter how minor, I can't rest or focus on anything else until it's resolved and I think that once it's resolved I will be able to enjoy the 'good stuff'. Which is very inconvenient when the problem is not something that should be prioritized...

Thank you all for your advice and insights. I did take most of those tests and I fall into the AS-end of the spectrum in every single one of them. To be honest, by this stage, the only reason why I'm still unsure whether I might have AS or not is because I don't have a problem reading facial express...

Hi all, I'm new here. In the past couple of years I have been reading up more and more about Asperger's (and finding out how bad my conception of the syndrome was, in the process!). I have been on the fence as to whether I have it or not, until I recently came across some literature on the female-sp...
