By Kolomogorof's definition the sequence of digits in pi are not random since they are generated by a finite rule. On the other hand the frequency distribution of single digits, digit pairs, digit triples etc. are equiprobable which makes the sequence statistically normal.

The numbers of pi are random since pi is an irrational number.

Imagine if a second way to calculate pi were discovered? A shortcut? Maybe a physical means?
