On behalf of my brother: GTX 580 3GB?

I have a super hi-end PC: An Intel i7-3960X (which is as ridiculous as it is unnecessary) with 32GB Ram (I couldn't see any 64GB ones at the time!!)

I managed to buy a (somewhat) basic (which for me reads "not the most expensive one I can find") graphics card: the GTX 560Ti.

I now have a problem though - I would really like to own the GTX 680 Card.

I justified getting a GTX 560Ti card with a "I can get a better one, when the new cards come out", and patted myself on my back from my prudence and cost cutting(!)

There are two main issues which might make it a wee (aka "small") bit odd for me wanting one of these new cards:

1. I purchased 10 or so of the most popular, most demanding games over Christmas (via the Steam sale). And the GTX 560Ti card can play them all. On Max settings. On 3D. On my full HD monitor.
2. I don't actually play any games I bought, and don't actually intend to play any game on my pc.

Nevertheless I would really like to by one or two of the new 680s for my PC (at around £420 each - though I'd wait until the best overclocked ones appeared and spend a bit more on them).

Is this a wise investment?

NB: This is NOT a p**s take on the first poster. Its genuinely how I feel!
NB: Regardless of what you say, I will unfortunately feel compelled to agree with you if you say "go for it", and disagree with you if you say anything of the opposite effect.
NB: I'm begining to think that my perfectionist nature might be clouding my judgement ever so slightly (okay - a LOT!) on issues relating to my PC. But why fight it?
NB: I'm probably going to be able to resist it I have a small bonus coming up at work - but its going straight onto the credit card that paid for the above PC!
(To stop me feeling bad I should also point out that I drive a 10 year old car and don't spend excessively on anything else, and tend to be generous anytime I do have money.)

Mine is also maxed out. (No DX11 but that shouldn't make much difference.) Problems with lighting and fog sounds like he needs to update his graphics drivers. (If that doesn't work, he might want to try the latest Beta drivers.) Also get the latest DirectX update from MS. And if the game was downloaded through... um... "alternative sources", he may need to manually install the latest patch (v1.2)

Aha! Ok, I'l update his drivers..... Something I tend to forget about.
