How do you use a tiling WM anyway? From what I understand they're primarily keyboard-driven. Like, whenever I see screenshots of them I never see a mouse cursor.

That's the idea! A proper tiling WM like i3 - http://i3wm.org/ - is keyboard driven. You can use the mouse, but most of this kind of user don't want to take their fingers off of the home row of the keyboard.

Whenever you launch a new program, from the command line or a text launcher, it shows up in the way you specified - stacked, or tabbed, or arranged top/down or left/right. Keypresses move the windows around between virtual screens and in the stack. It's a dream if you are already in that mode as a programmer.

There are no icons, nothing to click unless you get into a program that wants a mouse. Users often make browsers keyboard driven as well, to keep the hands where they are productive. There isn't even wallpaper; the screens just fill up all available space always.

Huge shame that OSX doesn't allow alternate window managers; but it's not part of the beautiful garden that they have envisioned.

And now I'll take my hands off the keyboard to scroll down and click on submit....

Can't you just tab to the submit button?

lemme try... actually tab goes to Preview. A second tab goes to Submit. Still, good point, that's faster. Thanks.
