I use Opera with Adblocks. Very good thing :D
And if sth doesn't run on it, I use FF, but it's really rare.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with ads?

I never bother with ad blockers - i'm smart enough not to click them ;)

You do appear to be the only one with a problem with the way ffx displays stuff though - i still say its because you're used to M$oft bugs - not because ffx dont do it correctly ;) Very likely something to do with M$oft sticking their borders on the wrong side of their "box model" - thus making everything 2x border width different to the size it should be  Or perhaps you're used to the fuzzy pictures and text and clearer ones bother you? The faster loading pages give you a fright?

in 1993 W3 released HTML to the world - that's 16 years M$oft has had to get a hang of it - but nup - still they cant get the idea to stick their borders on the right side of the box :|

Can you tell how much web developers love M$oft?

Yeah - by about a millimetre - with M$ about 5 miles back in the race

Ffx does throw some annoying javascript errors though :( Maybe they're TOO strict on that one 8O

Opera and Safari still dont have a big enough bite of the market to make me bother loading them - I do testing on simulators for them though - Chrome however is starting to pick up quite alarmingly - i'm dreading having to load that wee bit o spyware on my PC :|

I have just started to play with chrome, firefox has gone all buggy on me and I dont much like opera or epiphany, prior to firfox I always used Netscape and to paraphrase Orwell "I only ever used IE to download Netscape'

So far I am getting used to chrome, the lack of support for RSS is really annoying, other than that I have found it fast. Like all new systems finding my way around has been a little weird, but I am quickly getting to grips with it.

PS Just found Chrome now has an RSS extension

If you are concerned about privacy issues in Chrome, you can use SrWare Iron, which is remastered from the source code to remove the bits that phone home to Google.

Thanks Orwell!!

Dang - i just loaded the new firefox with "personas" what a ripoff that plot is - now all my menus have turned to a horrid glarey white instead of my nice black - with no apparent easy way of changing them Image I sure hope they come up with a solution to that one right quick - anyone know of an addon to change menu and messagebox colours?

Is that why I keep getting this annoying message?

Yeah, all I need to do is go open taskmaster and shut it in "processes," but it still bugs me. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a few of the add-ins and none of that seems to be the problem.

My wife says she can't be bothered to even do that much and has actually gone back to IE, which her work forces her to use anyways.

If I were the paranoid sort I'd wonder if the evil geniuses in Redmond were doing something akin to what they pulled on Digital Research/Novell and their DR-DOS product way back when.

Quote:

A pre-release version of Windows 3.1 was designed to return a non-fatal error message if it detected a non-Microsoft DOS. This check came to be known as the AARD code[2]. With the detection code disabled, Windows ran perfectly under DR-DOS and its successor Novell DOS. The code was present but disabled in the released version of Windows 3.1[3]

But with MS being kinder and gentler these days, that sort of thing could never happen now, right?

Bug in Firefox. Don't look at MS, this isn't their code at all.

I realize I look a lot like I'm supporting MS in my posts in this particular forum, but I think they generally produce a better product than they get credit for these days, with notable exceptions.

I prefer Firefox because the ad blocker available for it works better; also I have used Firefox since I had my 1st 'net connected computer.

Ever since I updated to Internet Explorer 8, some pages wouldn't load up sometimes and it was kind of slow. Such a big mistake I made since Internet Explorer 7 acted brilliantly for me. I did downgrade back, but the problems such as pages not loading up didn't go away.
As a result, I decided to try Google Chrome. I like it more than Internet Explorer 7. It's even faster for me, less error messages and tabs and stuff at the top take up less space. I only encountered one minor problem with Google Chrome so far, but I fixed it within 20 minutes. I've been using it for over half a year now and I love it.

I refuse to vote, as I can't choose any of my favorite browsers, being Safari and Opera respectively.
I downloaded Opera a few years ago, for its ability to download torrents without an external piece of software. Since Safari makes my Macintosh crash - go figure - the past few months, for some peculiar reason, I got hooked on Opera for its simplicity and effectiveness.
For the remaining three, I would say:"Firefox > Chrome > Internet Explorer." Even though I haven't tested Chrome extensively, I might promote it to third place some day, as I'm averse to Firefox's blatant look and its constant need of updates, I've heard Chrome doesn't suffer from that problem in the same severity.
Internet Explorer is an obvious fifth as it's an obvious bag of dung. Oh, I feel blessed they didn't bother to continue the Mac version.

Edit: I don't comprehend why everyone adores adblock so much. For me, ads are an obliged part of web browsing, a public website doesn't feel complete without them. Not to mention, adblock tends to alter site layouts at times, as they are usually designed to have ads in them.

I'm definitely a Firefox person. I've tried Chrome and while the rendering engine is no doubt superior, I don't like the whole layout of Google Chrome. Especially the tabs on top thing, and I don't like that your bookmarks are limited to the bookmarks bar at the bottom of the address bar. If Firefox gets an interface like Chrome, I'd probably switch back to IE. IE may be somewhat pokey compared to the other browsers, but it has a decent interface.

I've never gotten that error message when running Firefox on my Mac. I notice that the interface looks like Windows Vista. Hmm...

Opera and Firefox are the best :)
