Yes. For instance, If I boot 64 bit ubuntu liveCD I get everything. I actually ordered the 8.04 CD and never used it.

OK then. That was a highly confusing digression. I am going to ask on Monday morning if they'll just give me the install disks, as I would like to have multiple shots at this in case I screw something up in my tri-boot and I don't want to take it in to them for a week every time I want to try reinstalling an OS. If that's a no-go, then I'll let them put Vista on it and try to make it work from there.

Possibly, at some point in the future. But I'm not sure. It would help Vista run smoother, and there is some high-powered math software that likes a lot of RAM.

As an adjoiner, Ubuntu has special ram disk. You can find it in /dev/shm. Great palce to set your caches. I use it for firefoxes' cache and gimp as well. It would be great for lots of math intensive calculations with enough ram.
