I have a 4GB Philips GoGear I bought from Target a few weeks back. However I can't get it to sych in Ubuntu since it is a WMP based MP3 Player. Any program to sych music that is similar to WMP. As of right now its detected as a flash drive,

I assume you already added restricted-extras to get the MP3 codecs. (Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that's illegal in your country)

You could try using Songbird with the iPod support add-on to sync, but somehow I doubt that would work. I think Rhythmbox and Amarok permit you to simply drag-and-drop playlists to external players.

mp3 patent expires in 2010. its unlikely anyone will get sued.

Mum has a player similar, I cain't ever get it to show up as a media player. However, to play music from the player to the computer, you can just add it as an external HD or thumb drive. To transfer music, just drag and drop it to the 'hard drive' that shows up when you plug it in. Most of the software that comes with those players is cool, yes, but isn't required for the thing to work. We use Mums like a thumb drive, drag and drop. Works perfectly, even with my Ubuntu created you-tube sound rips.

Thanks, Now my player is now working and so on. I'm beginning to get really confident with Ubuntu. More so than other OSe's
