Need some help here
I recentley replaced my steering wheel with a non-airbag aftermarket one. I had to remove a part called a cable reel. Now my turn signals don't work. Is it possible to bypass this part so they work, not self cancel?

hello, about cable reel, its just basically a return spring to help center the wheel to straight ahead when you turn (that's why you feel resistance when turning wheel)
the turn signals, check fuses?? battery hooked up right??? make sure cable reel was aligned properly (arrow points up when wheels car's wheels are centered)
there should also be a couple connectors on the cable reel (2 wires for turn signals, did you maybe overlook these?? cable reel seems to do more then just act as a clock spring in steering wheel.
heres another thing you can do if above is not the fix to fix this, take wheel apart as you had it when replacing the reel, take reel off and you will find what is called the cancel sleeve, it looks alittle like a bow tie with 2 tabs, these tabs have to be vertically oriented in the column (imagine hands of the clock, you want the tabs at 12 and 6 o clock positions after making sure the tabs are at 12 and 6, reassemble the steering wheel.
instructions found here if you dont completely understand my post,

hope this helps and good luck

Turns out I loosened a clip on the turn signal indicator stalk. I have no cancel on it, so sometimes I look like an old person with the blinker on, but they work.
