I have a BA in English. I'm thinking about going into counceling or something to do with technology. What do you think my options are?

Always nice to meet a fellow with a degree involving the written word.

Be wary of a tech career -- technology is extremely precise. If, for example you were programming and meant to use the variable ... "COUNSELING" to hold data and then you later referenced that variable as "COUNCELING", your program would return unexpected results.

Become a first rate scientific/engineering/mathematical expositor. We are in great need of people who are knowlegable in the "hard" sciences and at the same time can explain their results to no specialists.

if you can explain String Theory to your grandmother, they should build a statue in your honor.

You could be a tech writer.
