I came across this interesting finding recently:

Silent videos that merely imply sound - such as of someone playing a musical instrument - still get processed by auditory regions of the brain.

I guess it's kind of like seeing color when watching black and white TV. You're brain fills it in. I wonder how many details our brains fill in that we aren't aware of?
