According to the Jargon File (source), one of the things hackers detest and avoid is character-based menu interfaces. My question is, why? I'm somewhat of a hacker, and I love character-based menu interfaces. I love them because I find them aesthetically pleasing. What do you think of this? I am confused as to what all the hate is about. :?

I am at a serious loss for this one!! I have no idea why they would dislike them.

TBH I would prefer numbers and if you are resorting to letters there are to many options on screen!! !

I like them. :D They remind me of the setup programs DOS games used for configuring sound cards, playing around with BIOS settings to get juicy overclocks, and tweaking Linux kernels for optimum performance.
