Sony Vaio PCG-TR5C WIFI Drivers Bluescreen

Hello.
I have found a Sony Vaio PCG-TR5C for sale, I want to purchase it.
But the owner said it has an issue with installing Wifi drivers.
When he attempts to install them, it bluescreens.
I think this is an OS fault?
Or is it hardware?
The OS is Windows XP Professional SP2.
I'm putting Slackware on it anyway.
So I dont think I'l have the same issues.
The seller said that it is perfectly fine apart from that.

What do you think?

Could be either the hardware or OS. Could be a sign of something much worse with the laptop.

If you do not care about the wireless then go ahead and buy it. Try Slackware on it and see what happens.

Also depends on how much is selling it for a defective laptop.

Well, im not very sure how much it will go for as it is on bid.
But, im not willing to pay more then 70.
There is another one but it is hours away from me and its collection only.
I could oder a parcel service to get it for me.
What do you think?

I COULD ALSO:
Use a USB Wifi dongle.
But it would have to be compat with Linux.

Have the seller tried the latest driver from Sony's site?

"Resolves an issue where enabling a wireless LAN card may cause a blue screen error" is one of the fixes listed for the wifi driver.

I would have my doubts about buying this model of laptop even with the wireless working. Looking at driver page that Cloudwalker provided the only driver software listed is for Windows XP. Which means they have not bothered to update the drivers let alone come out with drivers for Linux. Therefore it would be a gamble that you could get the hardware working on Linux.

Just my opinion on it :)

Could I replace the WIFI card in it with something else?
I could get a USB one.
That should work.... Right?
