I just decide to open an forum like WP but for peoples who suffers from solitude as i suffer from it. Don't Worry mods, i will not says nothing about the link ect i know that publicity is forbidden from here. I just want to help solitude sufferer. Sure forum will be in french, my main language. Unfortunatly the hosting and domain will be ready in 48 hours business day so not before tuesday. I try to work more on the netiquette(the rules if you prefer). But my fear is to never have peoples to join it like my IRC when try earlier this year. Any tips for get my futur forum know? Oh: i know that i need to list it with google for peoples find it on Google itself. And patience, much patience.

Do you think that an billiangual place can be more attractive for user than one language forum?

There is no reason why you can't put a link to your forum in your signature line or even mention the link in this thread, you are an established member here and not a spammer!

You could make the interface in English / French and invite threads in either language or have separate forums on your site for English and French. Small steps though, whatever you find easiest first. The most difficult part of starting a new forum isn't the technical side, it is attracting enough members to reach a critical mass of interest, otherwise a few will join, but there won't be enough activity to keep them there and they will stop visiting.

Very difficult to reach critical mass where a forum has enough activity to attract and keep members. You really need to offer a unique place for people. It needs to be a site that will appear on the first page (two max) when people do a Google search. Difficult!

That is the principal problem with most forums. The vast majority of new forums have good software and well intentioned, motivated admin etc and start with good intentions and perhaps attract one or two of the site owners friends, but rarely get beyond that point in having enough conversation and new topics going on to attract and keep new members. I'm a member of several forums that started up and fizzled out that way, I just don't visit them any more due to lack of ongoing content.

I just configure all the thing and get it listed in Google via an sitemap and same with Bing. But that take somes day for get it in research motor. I follow your tip and i do no create too many sections i just create the more important like an place for introduction, solution seeker and support seeker
