CSS2 still compatible?

Hello
I have been learning html with HTML 4 for dummies, and when I tried to input some CSS examples, it did not work. So do I need to learn CSS separately?

I would suggest going to W3Schools. They have some amazing tutorials. Trust me, its worth the reading.

I figured it out. They introduced a certain line of code without putting it in context. It is kind of like if you introduced int before introducing int main. But thanks I actually tried that and it helped.
