Which 8"-10" tablet to get?

After a few more item sales I should have enough to get a quality tablet and accessories.
I'm looking to make a switch from using a media PC (currently have a Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180) to something more compact/portable as well as versatile.
I don't do much office work and when I do it's usually on library computers, the social club's office computer or whoever needs my help's computer.

Budget is about up to the 350 mark and features that are essential:
*Quad core.
*Can attach a keyboard.
*A larger screen.
*A large app store.

Tablets that have caught my eye are:
*Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"
*Google Nexus 10
*iPad Air (though slightly over budget)

Can anyone who uses a tablet as their main computing device with no bias on the operating system or company selling it pitch in their two cents?
If I'm honest the HDX is the one that interests me the most so far, and Nexus 10 the least (mainly because of the design and my lack of interest in "traditional" Android).

I'd suggest the Galaxy Notes, because they're available in both screen sizes you like and they're better than standard Android for getting work done. My friend just bought a note 10.1 for school, and at present Samsung is the only company that builds a window system into Android. The notes are also pretty fast hardware, so users can expect a good few update cycles.

You. This is my obsession. Are you looking for Windows 8 tablets, Android tablets or Apple tablets? I can give you a recommendation based on that answer.
10.1 is the best, in my opinion, if you want a keyboard. Anything smaller is too small for a keyboard.

Also, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is freaking amazing, and exactly what I own. I LOOOOOOVE this tablet. The new version was recently released. It doesn't come with a keyboard attachment for the first model. The second model might. You could always buy a bluetooth keyboard to use with the Android tablet.

My nan has a 10.1 tab and I did like using it.
I like the OS built on top of Android that Kindle Fire devices use
I've also considered the Surface RT and jailbreaking it to run the apps I want it to including Steam but idk if that's worth doing.

And yes keyboard functionality is kind of essential IMO. Thanks for the links.

I'm holding off on a tablet until 4K screens become commonplace.
I absolutely love the crispness of the full HD screen on my Galaxy S4.
To get the same ppi on a 10" screen it would have to be 4K.
A japanese company has a prototype 12" 4K screen. So, it's coming. We'll need a better generation of processors to drive those screens though.

It may be worth doing with a Windows tablet, but I've yet to try them out.
