Accuracy of GoogleTrends, 'Trending topics' listings?
Hello,
The 'Trending Topics' listings e.g., Twitter as one of a growing number of examples, and GoogleTrends analyzes what keywords, and key phrases users have collectively typed in; hence 'Trending Topics' listings results.
Are lists of trending words (based only on what users have typed in) a good indicator of emerging trends? Or would trending keywords and key phrases gleaned from current (already published) Internet and news-media content be of interest to trend-spotters?
Would Trending topics data gleaned from published content allow a better context of emerging trends, as opposed to 'Trending Topics' lists from user keyword searches only?
The following story discusses information services that go beyond the typical 'Trending topics' listings.
