NT 4 showed some promise, Win2k/XP was the OS that MS finally got right, anything after that is crap.

I used to love Windows 2000, but M$ made it so that newer apps wouldn't run on it, even though they should have been able to run just fine. XP was great too, but only after disabling a bunch of crap to make it more like 2k. ;) Windows 7 is a great OS as well, but it took me a long time to warm up to it. Some things about it still annoy me, but at least its hardware support and update system are better.

XP was amazingly stable, fast, and reliable for it's time. Windows 9x (even though it was MS DOS-based) was also lightyears ahead of anything Apple could offer.
