I have a 6th generation iPod classic that was an 80gb model that I upgraded to 120gb when the original drive dies. I discovered today the headphone jack is not working properly. Since the classic is now discontinued, I've wanted to buy another iPod for parts. I have my eye on a parts machine, but I think this one is a 7th generation. My question is to anyone who would know is are the parts used in the 6th and 7th generation's the same and will they work with each other?
I know that the 160gb 6th generation had a dual platter hard drive making it thicker that the 80gb and the 7th generation 160gb is thinner. As long as the headphone jack and other parts can work in my 6th generation 80GB that is all that I care about.
