Here you can enter the Royal Society of Chemistry's competition to answer a math question. For anyone who's done A-level math it's quite easy. I thought other people here might like to have a go, I just entered today. And also I wanted to know if anyone else here likes math since I do.

I got an A+ in geometry when I was in High School...

... but that was over 16 years ago

Well this is sort of a geometry question. It's about intersections of lines and planes. I did it using vectors but I expect there are other ways.

Interesting. Semi-mistake on question - uses "square" when it should really say "right".
(i) Trivial.
(ii) Not much more than trivial.
(iii) Haven't done it (yet). I think it's quite distinctly non-trivial, to give an exact answer. Maybe I'm missing something.

Yeah, I am interested in mathematics; I am studying it at university at the moment. I have a fairly wide interest but I suppose my favourite areas are algebraic ones such as group and ring theory.

I'm studying Physics but I like to do the theoretical side especially. But I really like learning complex maths and then applying it to a physical situation so you can solve it. Good luck with your degree.
