Is there a way to freeze an image from a DVD and save it to your computer?

if dvd is being played in cd or dvd rom drive, on keyboard press printscrn at time u want frozen then image will be saved in clipboard in paint or photo editing software.
when u have got image in paint or photo editing software, go to file then save as... then choose an area of drive you want it. then boom its saved.

Most DVD playback software has a feature for capturing screens.

Pressing PrintScreen will often not work, since many DVD softwares use hardware overlays. What it means is that the data to be displayed is written in a separate video buffer, and merged with the use of hardware. The area where the movie goes is just black, meaning that that's all your screenshot will contain. By all means, try PrintScreen, but if it doesn't work, look for an option in your software, as ahayes said.

well this also depends on if ur using windvd player thats used on windows (it will work then) but might not work if her machine uses quickplay (you can play msuic and dvd's without starting the operating system) because if her machine uses quickplay, the button will not be usable, just the remote and the volume or any other special buttons for media.

if you use VLC (videolan), there's an option to save screenshots of the movie you're watching.

freeware
