4K15 vs 1080p60

I'm going on the Birthright trip to Israel this Monday and I have a goPro Hero4 Silver camera that i'm bringing along on the trip. I'm having a debate right now if I should record videos in 4K 15 FPS or 1080p 60 FPS. What do you recommend?

1080p60, most definitely. Not a lot of devices can actually display 4k, and 15fps will look laughable no matter what the resolution.

Go for the 1080p60. 4K is pretty much useless by now if you dont have a big 4K monitor and absolutely need that extra pixels. And 1080p isnt a "potato" resolution either. Framerate on the other hand is much more obvious when looking at the footage later. 15 fps is a literal dia-show, while 60 fps is smooth and gives you the opportunity to even make some 0.5x slowmo shots that still are "smooth enough".

+1 for 1080p

I dislike 4k until it becomes cheaper and more affordable. Plus with my eyesight I honestly can't tell much of a difference, I really can't tell much difference beyond 720p to be honest so I don't really see myself upgrading monitors or resolution for a very long time. Its just not practical for me to upgrade, I can't see a huge difference and if I stick to 1080p well into 4k's life then I'll be able to play more games on weaker hardware.

I'd give another vote for 1080p with 60 FPS. 60 FPS will also look somewhat more crisp and sharp compared to 30 FPS, and few computers and TV sets (and no tablet or cell phone I'm aware of) can play 4K video.

What about the Xperia Z5 Premium?

Looks interesting. Price is steep, though.

I am kinda strange in the technology I upgrade, I can be 20 years behind in some areas and bleeding edge in others. I only have a feature phone because its much cheaper than a smart phone and I don't have a desire to surf the internet when I am out. I don't buy what I don't have a need for and sometimes generation old devices are cheaper and not that much worse then current gen stuff. Even though I have an awesome computer now, I am not spoiled, I love doing stuff on a budget. I could totally get by with just a Raspberry Pi 3, Wii and a PSP. New stuff is kinda over rated, I could totally do some 16-bit gaming on a Raspberry Pi 3 and not want what is popular. I try not to be to materialistic in my wants and desires, I don't need a 4k smart phone to be happy.

I asked someone yesterday what I should go with (1080p60 or 4K15) and he said to me that if you are taking a video of stuff moving around a lot, then you should go with 1080p60. If you are taking a video of someone standing in one place and speaking, then you should go with 4K15. He also told me that 15 FPS is not that bad and that 1080p will look stretched out on a big screen.

I've got a 49" 4K television, and three 27" 2k monitors for my PC. I would prefer 1080p 60fps, simply because 15fps would be really noticeable. If I was looking at still images, 4K is nice. If im looking at video, then 60fps is much nicer. Yes, if I watch a 1080p video in full-screen mode, I can see the pixels (even with upscaling). But tbh, I don't go full screen unless it's a 1440p video. You'll have the nice ability of adding slow-mo moments, which is cool. Either way, I hope you have plenty of memory space.
