I know very little about databases, but I know that NoSQL databases like MongoDB and AWS's DynamoDB are more suitable to big data because the data is not structured in relational tables as in MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft Access, but rather is stored in a JSON-like format. SQL is for structured relational data; NoSQL is for non-structured data that doesn't lend itself well to the tabular schema.
