Anyone have a dead IMac?

I need a dead IMac part... it connects to the back of the CD drive to convert the cabling over.

It's in the old IMacs, the orginal ones.

Anyway, if anyone has one just lying around, dead, let me know, I'd love to have that part.

I have 2 dead ones in the basement, plus one working here on my desktop.

Junk ones are tangerine and purple slot-loaders.

Hmm... these guys are the tray loaders... I wonder if apple used the same part...

But I love IMacs! I wish there was a way I could get them...

I eventually want to have one of every colour. I'm turning them into a cheapy little server farm. You got to admit, screen and eveything already inside, nice little servers.

There's an online store called ifixit that I've ordered spare mac parts from before. Dunno if they have any that go to that old imacs, but it's worth a shot to email them - they might know where to get parts like that.

These Imacs are my first foray into the world of apple since I was... 9? 10 maybe? But mum would have killed me had I taken them apart. I've got these cuties now and I'm coming at them as a computer tech as opposed to a kid with a screwdriver. And of course my old mac tech guy is related to bed-pisser... so there goes that help
