I don't understand it either.. But then, I haven't seen a lot of anime. But from what little I've seen, I like serial experiments lain & fruits basket.

I guess I'm the only one here who actually likes anime. I go mostly for shoujo (girls') anime, and since my family has Netflix, I have my heart's content. But I read more manga than I watch anime, probably since I'm interested in being a manga-style comic artist. I have a pretty big (and growing) collection, but here's a smattering of my favorites:

Fushigi Yuugi (well, almost anything by Yuu Watase)
Red River
Tokyo Mew Mew
Full Moon o Sagashite

And a few Clamp manga as well:
Cardcaptor Sakura
RG Veda
Magic Knight Rayearth
Wish

My favourite anime will always be Duel Masters. I used to collect the cards, and I had one of the character's actual decks. I forgot what his name is though... The main character. I had his deck. I even got Rothus, The Traveler.

You don't understand Ghost in the Shell?! Come on, it's basically just about some cyborgs working for the government in the future who have to do special jobs like investigating cyberbrain crime, hacking incidents, ect. The series follows the team as they work on a case involving a guy who tried to fight a corporation but in the end he failed (He's known as "The Laughing Man", although there are a couple of other people who get mistaken for him), it also asks a lot of philosophical questions which I wont get into. There were also some other cases they worked on and those episodes were known as "Stand Alones". Stand Alone Complex comes from a phenomena delved into by the show where people begin to work in unison without actually comunicating at all or even being aware of each other's existence. It's pretty simple really.

I love anime because a lot of anime has humor in it and they make funny expressions. They are also better written than the cartoons these days. Plus I like oggling at hot anime guys.

BTW, does anyone have a recommendation of a good funny anime? Maybe something similar to the humor of Azumanga Daioh?

Those are animes i watch most often,and please,watch anime off the PC,i wouldn't trust your TV to provide you with anime you'll like.

How did this turn into "What Anime do you like?".

At a young age (6-7), I had a budding interest in Japanese culture, which was fueled by a visit to our classroom by Japanese exchange students. At age 8, I saw my first anime: Pokemon. From then on I sought "Japanese cartoons" on TV because I liked the art. I became a serious fan at age 11, when I saw Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha. From then on, anime has been a major part of my life. I watch it sometimes, but I mostly just obsess over the characters and create new stories and relationships for them in my mind. I've also been working on my art for years, hoping to emulate the style. I know I'll never become a professional, but it sure is fun to be able to draw my favorite characters.

Anime is the first thing I watched, so it has sentimental value for me. I also love that there are always many different options for whatever mood I'm in. American shows can barely hold my attention for more than five episodes, and anime like Detedtive Conan have held it for 490 episodes.

I never understood the appeal of it. But then I grew up before it caught on. The thing that tickles me the most about anime, is that it's drawn to have as little movement as possible...

and some of the anime is a bit on the sick side. 4 year olds with DD breasts is just....creepy..
and there's much worse than that, but we won't go into it here (tentacles?...huh?)

I like anime and the way it's done, but yes, it's also confusing. In fact my brother, who usually likes Anime A LOT , REALLY didn't like "Spirited Away" but loves things like Yugioh GX and pokemon. So basically, people like Anime because of the characters and stuff and the animation, but personally the confusion is a wee bit annoying as well. Luckily in "Tales Of Earthsea" or whatever it's called, the confusion is explained, unlike in "Spirited Away".

It's the first anime that I can't get into.

Is it just me or do other people not like it?

Also, I haven't seen only yesterday... What is it like?
