Family guy is funny as.

The only three "adult" cartoons I like are Family guy, the simpsons and American Dad.

I like Family Guy, but I admit sometimes the jokes on the show get carried away. However I don't think Seth is really a bigot like the OP stated, his show makes fun of everybody and everything so it's not like he's directing his anger at one group of people in particular (like a real Bigot does). I think the important thing to remember is that it's just a cartoon with no plot and relies heavily on shock humor, so you shouldn't take anything on the show seriously.

Oh, you're totally right. Nobody should ever post their opinion on a board because any opinion might incite hostility. All conversations should be rainbows and sparkles and flowers!

Then why don't you list some "high-brow" comedy that us slackers and potheads should watch. Enthrall us with your acumen.

And, once again, I never said anything about "high-brow" comedy, nor did I ever say comedy had to be "high-brow".

Reading comprehension FTW.

Yet here we are, proving my point.

I'm not "proving" anything, and you had no point to begin with. Any thread like this is naturally going to cause an argument. If you don't want arguments, you shouldn't have a board in the first place - especially one with a philosophy, politics, and religion section. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. Simple as that.

Then recommend us a comedy that isn't offensive then, go on, i dare you for fear of being ridiculed if you choose one that we all disagree upon.

I've never seen Family Guy, but I believe the point is that Family Guy lacks any reason for its vulgar content. If it was making social commentary, that would be one thing, but it is just being vulgar to get some cheap laughs. Once again, I've never seen the show so I don't know if this is true, but it's the feeling I get from what I've heard about it. Oh, and things can be offensive and funny, like Monty Python, but it is not funny BECAUSE it's offensive.

Basically Family Guy is just a parody of American culture. All parodies rely on offensive and vulgar humor to twist something up because that is what makes it funny, and they are not meant to be taken literally.

THANK YOU.

It's nice to see someone who can actually comprehend things for a change.

I was criticizing Family Guy for its extremely low quality, not because it's a "sin against Zombie Jebus".

I have already said that i am not a Family Guy fan, but you've avoided my question about your alternative recommendations for a comedy that isn't offensive.

I like family guy because it's just random and pointless. That's what is funny. Not all humour needs to make sense. I also watch a show called adventure time which is for kids and that is random too. There are some talking balloons in one episode... Oh s*d it just watch:

I don't know why but I find that SO hilarious! I also like South Park, including the episode where they take the p*ss out of Family Guy. I don't defend Family Guy like it's my kid or something, I just enjoy watching it. I also don't mind if other people don't. My Mum and best friend don't like it and I just respect that. My Mum thinks Adventure time is funny though. Seriously though, if you haven't watched it yet, watch the balloons...

I completely agree with the aspect of liking humor because of pointlessness, but Adventure Time just seemed like another terrible Cartoon Network cartoon, meaning disturbing, occasionally funny, and having a broadcast of a couple episodes before everyone forgets about it (at least in recent years). I mainly avoided it due to its commercials looking juvenile and it baring a large resemblance to The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack (which is the poster boy for terrible Cartoon Network shows). I did get a chuckle out of the balloon thing, though. If I didn't like Flapjack, but I like surreal humor, would I like Adventure Time?

I think the whole point of Family Guy is to see how much Seth MacFarlane can piss off the censors. I commend him for that.

WTG, Seth! Show the Parents' Television Council who's boss!
