Ever felt alone in your TV interests?
Yes. I love three classic animated shows with a passion that everyone just seems to really dislike. I read comments on YouTube and certain sites about these shows/characters and most of them are so negative that it hurts me because I can't find anyone who really enjoys them like I do. These shows/characters are so special to me because of their unique characteristics and charm. I know people have their opinions, and that's fine, but I find it sad that I can't connect with anybody because they either don't like or care about my favorite animated shows/characters. The characters/shows give me absolute joy, and looking at pictures of the characters keep me calm and happy. When I happen to come across reading the horrible, scathing and disgusting comments online about the characters I love, I feel hurt, sad, angry, and miserable. I always wonder if I'll ever connect with someone who would like them.
I guess most people in my generation never heard of some of these characters I love, but here we go:
1. Heckle and Jeckle - this pair of hilarious, witty, mischievous, and smart magpies never fails to put a huge smile on my face. Every time I watch their cartoons, I feel very happy. They do the funniest things and are extremely clever. If you're curious, look them up on YouTube. Any episode will do, but the best one to start with is House Busters or The Power of Thought. Those are their most excellent shorts, though I do love all of them. Unfortunately, they are not respected by animation fans because they came from the Terrytoons company...and are thus inferior to Disney and other popular cartoons...seriously, I watch cartoons to laugh and have a good time, not comparing cartoons to others and finding faults with them that are unnecessary. Though they are not popular at all today, I've asked many grownups and adult family members if they remember watching them, and they all do
If you love animation and funny characters, don't hesitate to check these guys out!
2. Colonel Bleep - virtually no one has ever heard of this show; I believe it was shown only in a few cities and towns in the United States and Canada. I found an episode of this show on YouTube when I was looking at the Related Videos area. I have to say that it has to be the most unique, interesting, simple, stellar, imaginative cartoon I've ever seen. It lacks the humor, gags, puns, and hilarity, but it is so unique in charm that as an avid cartoon lover, I can't get enough of it. It's a 3-5 minute long show from the late 1950s aimed at younger children, but it is very fascinating. It has amazing conceptual art and design; the characters and the way they move are so stunning to me. Many people criticize this show for being 'badly animated', but I find it beautiful as an artist. In fact, it's the first color cartoon made for television! If you like space adventures, cute and peculiar characters, or animation in general, then check this out!
3. Looney Tunes...the original - I love this show with an enormous passion. Yes, I understand that many people DO like this show. I love every single character; they are all very funny and special to me in their own way. All have great qualities and are very well made. However, one character stands out to me the most...and that is Pepe le Pew. I find this amorous skunk hilarious and charming. I love how he's so persistent to get a mate...the whole premise of him chasing a cat who manages to get a white stripe down her back is so original and clever! Pepe says the funniest things, and never gets angry when the cat runs away from him. He just never gives up! I never fail to laugh so hard at the hilarious and clever things he says; I love his puns. Pepe le Pew creator Chuck Jones said Pepe is a version of what he really wanted to be. Jones admitted he was a shy person, and wanted to create a character that illustrated the kind of person he desired to be - and and exaggerated it! Pepe is based off a French actor named Charles Boyer; Jones made up the idea of a skunk wanting a mate because skunks have a bad odor and it's funny that a skunk would want love so much; Pepe doesn't realize that his odorous scent makes the cat flee. The way he hops is so cute, and the character himself is very lovable. "We didn't make them [Looney Tunes cartoons] for kids," Jones had frequently said. "We made them for adults - and ourselves." I have a respect for these amazing cartoons. They are very well made, and were created for our entertainment. I think Pepe le Pew is very fun to watch, even if most of his episodes have the same plot. Each is different, however, with different puns, remarks, and actions from Pepe. He makes me smile and laugh!
These are the cartoon shows and characters that I really love. I know they have very few fans, but at least they make me really happy. I just wish I could talk to someone about them without them getting annoyed...
If any of you like these shows or characters, please feel free to comment. Sorry for the hunk of information, but I really wanted to let it out. Thanks for reading ![]()

I like the 60's-70's sitcoms: Barney Miller is a favorite. Also: Gilligan's Island, Emergency, The Brady Bunch, Courtship of Eddie's Father, The Odd Couple, many more. There were 70's sitcoms which were well done, but too LOUD: All in the Family, Maude, The Jefferson's--the controversial ones. Good Times was great. Happy Days in its early "days" was fine; later on, it got ridiculous.
I really don't like the sitcoms they have on now--except for Big Bang Theory. Too much innuendo, not enough other stuff. Not enough PLEASANTNESS.
I used to really like cartoons and anime, and especially old cartoons, though even that has been waning as of late, there's only a selective handful of cartoons that I can tolerate nowadays, and I have zero interest in reality tv, and most modern anime makes me want to cringe -- "I liked this stuff?!".
I liked the walking dead for awhile but I feel like the over-emphasis of the human element in the post-apocalypse sorta misses the point, I don't really have any interest in exploring the characters outside the context of the setting, I mean if I wanted to do that I'd find other television shows that do it much more effectively than the zombie apocalypse.
That that was pretty much the last show I had any interest in (stopped when they got to the prison and started to focus on the politics between them and woodbury, bleh).
Nowadyas I just depend on re-watching really good movies that come out, there's nothing more depressing to me than surfing the television and saying "this sucks" to everything thats on. I learned my lesson not to even bother anymore as it always puts a cloud over me and makes me brood.

Thinking about it now, I do feel kind of isolated in my TV interests. All of my friends seem to be obsessed with various animes and Game of Thrones and other series, and while I can enjoy watching that sort of stuff casually when it just happens to be on, I never have the attention span to actually "follow" a series, and it's frustrating to know that Game of Thrones is in its fourth f*****g season, and I've only ever seen like maybe the first one or two episodes. I really wish I didn't have this pressure to "keep up" with series so that I could actually just sit down, watch, and enjoy them

I used to feel alone back in the 1990s because I preferred watching my video tapes of 80s cartoons and kids programmes to the kids programmes on TV then finding kids at school had never heard of them and didn't know what on earth I was talking about whenever I tried discussing them.
It also made me wonder if the popular kids TV of the 1990s would also be unheard of by the kids in 10 years time.
