What Cameras and Photographic Techniques to Use
For awhile, I've been wanting to do a darkly comic, satirical, low-budget retro-cyberpunk film about life at a Connecticut college. I've been wanting to film it in the vein of Devo's early music videos, though I am also drawn cinematography of other odd films like Neil Young's post-apocalyptic film Human Highway and George Lucas' THX-1138. In particular, I am drawn to the original student film version of THX, Electronic Labyrinth. I very much want to replicate those film styles, but I don't know where to start. I sadly can't post any clips here, but there are clips on You Tube of the films I want to use for inspiration: Devo's videos for Jocko Homo, Secret Agent Man, and Satisfaction; Neil Young's Human Highway; and George Lucas' Electronic Labyrinth and THX-1138. Could some of you tell me what cameras and photographic techniques are used in each of these films, and what cameras I can use now to replicate the cinematography of those films?
