The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

Japanese adaption of the Lovecraft story. Not exceptionally good.

Finally got to watch Hey, Arnold: The Jungle Movie. I really loved that cartoon when I was a youngster.

Last night we planned to watch:

Attack of the Corn Zombies [2023]

and:

Return of the Corn Zombies [2025]
<=>"The corn virus has spread across the globe. Is the Homestead sanctuary the only hope for survival?"

We got about 20 minutes into ① and then, by mutual consent, decided to find something else to do.
We did not watch any of ②.

:eew: \o/NOT Recommended—REALLY!\o/

Last night we watched:

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman [1958]
<=>"Eight times bigger than a man... 100 times more savage!"

I generally enjoy 1950's Sci-Fi films but my bride rarely is...but she was OK with this one.

That is quite an endorsement!

The biggest problem I think it had was its special effects. They were usually flawed. Oh, well.

Thunderbolts*

Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes ends up leading a band of misfit super anti-heroes when a corrupt CIA head decides to tie up her loose ends and exterminate them all, after they had served her loyally as assassins. And then they learn how a friend has been turned by the government into a sinister, godlike entity called the Sentinel, whose psychological baggage has made him a threat to all life on earth.
Extremely enjoyable superhero movie.

Last night we watched:

Asteroid City [2023]

An author is writing a story and the movie lets us look into the world he is describing.

RECOMMENDED if you can handle gentle strangeness

Out Of Mind.

Told from the perspective of H.P. Lovecraft in the 1920's, and a starving artist named Randolph Carter in who modern times is pulled into the reality bending horror of the Necronomicon. After encountering cosmic horrors, he finds himself in Lovecraft's day.
Enjoyable movie that isn't for everyone, especially if they want their movies to make sense.

Spaceballs

Just like Clue: The Movie, this comedy film is worthy of its status as a cult film.

A Canterbury Tale (1944)

This was the most delightful movie I've seen in a very long time
After a very weird beginning, it follows 3 young people on a pilgrimage to find their joy after the bombing of Britain in World War 2.
Worth a watch if you want something uplifting for a change.

Thursday Murder Club

I fell asleep during rhis, which says it all.
The book was so much better.
Casting Pierce Brosnan as Ron was unforgivable IMO.

I saw "Mr Burton" at the cinema. It was enjoyable.
