Char Man.

Three small time film makers decide to make a documentary about an alleged vampire killed by a lynch mob in old west California, in which they plan to fabricate most of the facts. But then, they discover the urban legend of the Char Man, a ghostly figure who had been said to have been burned horribly during a forest fire. Stoked over changing to this project, they discover strange things begin happening around them.
Believe it or not, this is a horror/comedy film.

The Atticus Institute.

Found footage/documentary taking place in 1976. Scientists at the Atticus are attempting to prove the existence of telekinesis, but find they are only the victims of a fraud. Then, a woman brings her troubled sister to them, telling them she's the real thing. Her abilities seem to fulfill their expectations, when the military steps in with plans to weaponize the woman's gift. And then, it becomes apparent something far more terrible is happening with her.
Highly recommended!

I watched the Netflix movie "A House of Dynamite" last weekend.

It is regarding a ficitional lone nuclear missile scenario that's launched at the US. It was interesting and showed the very real and immense pressure the whole government and military would be under should that occur. One of the scariest nuclear war movies I've ever seen was "The Day After" made in 1983. It scared me a good bit watching it when I was younger and stayed with me for a long long time. I think it's a movie every political leader in the world should see.

Unspeakable: Beyond The Wall Of Sleep.

Based on the H.P. Lovecraft story, Beyond The Walls Of Sleep, a psychologist specializing on sleep disorders is asked to evaluate a criminally insane patient, when he discovers there is something far more terrible beyond his madness.
Like so many Lovecraftian horror films, this is low budget, but perhaps it's one of the better low budget adaptions.

Diary of a Teenage Hitchhiker (1979)

It deals with a girl (played by Charlene Tilton from Dallas) and her friends hitching rides, unaware there is a predator lurking around southern California who picks up hitchhikers.

What's weird is that it had both Craig T. Nelson and Dominique Dunne (this was her debut), and they were in Poltergeist together. Plus Katherine Helmond played the mom, and she would star with Nelson in the later seasons of Coach.

Last night we watched:

Jurassic World: Rebirth [2025]
<=>"A new era is born."

I'm just guessing here, but...

I suspect the previous movie tipped things too much toward the dinosaurs (as opposed to us humans) and the logical progression would've lead to dinosaurs winning against humans...so they had to adjust things to make humans vs. dinosaurs a more balanced battle.

Just my suspicion.

Just watched a documentary about Caligula the Roman tyrant. Now watching one on the lost colony of Roanoke. Both through YouTube's free movies channel.

We, surprising me, watched:

The Monolith Monsters [1957]
<=>"The most startling science fiction concept ever brought to the screen!"

I thought my bride would decline watching this...and, if she did watch it, probably would not like it.

It's a black-and-white 50's Sci-Fi film with not much action.

I was pleasantly surprised when she agreed to watch it and then said she liked it!

This movie is built on a novel concept: What if a meteor hit the Earth and had a strange crystalline chemistry which caused it, when wet, to absorb some of the common materials around it to create more of the same material. It would grow huge towers of the crystalline material which would eventually fall over, breaking into many pieces, each of which did the same thing as the first crystal.

And I recommend the film...a 50's sci-fi movie built on a novel concept!

Man, I just watched a bunch of stuff in the last couple days, partly due to me finding stuff on YouTube, and partly due to me finally trying out the WatchFree+ feature on my Vizio TV.

Stuff I've watched recently:
- Caligula: 1400 Days of Terror (on YouTube's free movie channel)
- Another history documentary, this time about some archaeologists trying to solve the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke - honestly felt more like an episode of Pawn Stars than a history program
- Come and See (foreign film about World War II; really dark and depressing, so I definitely won't recommend watching it unless you're mentally prepared)
- Monster Hunters (anime show on WatchFree+)
- Four or five episodes of Ronin Warriors (I'm in love with how campy this show is, like the fact that it employs every cliche anime trope in existence and feels like something that would be parodied in South Park.)
- Street Fighter II (and with it I realized that there's a whole subgenre of anime that focuses on really muscular guys beating the crap out of each other; I'd say DragonBall Z is another good example of this genre, though I haven't actually watched any of it)

Last night we watched:

Fantastic Four [2005]
<=>"Prepare for the fantastic."

This movie is generally not taken seriously so I guess I am in a minority...I think this is a very good movie!

I liked it as well, when it came out. Just saying because you're right. Sometimes detractors are just louder and use all inclusive words like nobody and everybody. Life is so more subjective.
