Buffy and Angel are alright. My sister is much more of a fan than am. She has every single box set of them both and, when we lived together, she pretty much dominated the TV and so thats all we ever watched. I didnt complain though, she could have been an 'only Fools and Horses' fan instead in which case I would have had to have killed her.

Woohoo! I have the Buffy box set with every episode. My favourites were the Mayor and ascension, and the Gloria seasons.

I am waiting for the Angel box set to come out, but I'm not sure I can afford it this time.

I love those series. I worked my way through all the Buffy episodes, hiring them out of the video store. Spike is by far my favorite character. Angel sucks. Spike is just awesomeness incarnate.

I haven't seen any of them, though I've had them recommended to me. I may rent a Season 1 DVD or something at some point.

:D :D :D I absolutely LOVE watching Buffy. I may even have a little obsession... 8O I have watched every episode countless times and read every book I could find about it.

Last year I met Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) and he was so kind. And I also met Amber Benson (Tara) who was lovely too. :)

I could talk about the show forever. I'm always stealing quotes from it which make me sound cool and funny. I just have to hope that the people I say them to have not seen the show - in case they realize I didn't make them up myself.

I know Aspies often have obsessions with TV shows (amongst other things.) Am I the only hardcore Buffy freak?! :?:

Believe me, you're not alone. Back in high school, before I was diagnosed with AS, I was a hardcore Buffy freak myself. Even now, I've started waking up at 7 in the morning to watch syndicated reruns on FX. This was one of the few shows that I ever obsessed over, and I usually can't stand TV.

I think that the show was a perfect show for anyone to watch, especially Aspies; extremely well-written, well-acted, brilliantly plotted, incredibly quotable, and has some very resonant themes about being an outsider. All the characters of the Scooby Gang are unusual in some way, and feel lonely because of it; Buffy's the Chosen One, Willow and Xander struggled with feelings of inadequacy in their own ways, Anya had little to no conception of how human beings worked, etc. The fact that the show involved this group of outcasts banding together to fight for a good cause was a great theme.

Also, in situations where I feel tongue-tied and don't know what to say, I generally think back to what Xander would do. Not that Mr. Harris is exactly a model of " cool ", but his honesty and integrity come through no matter how awkward and clumsy he is, and give him a unique sort of social charm.

I'm a big fan of Joss Whedon's work. Buffy was very good, but Angel was great--who could forget that puppet episode?
