Hocus Pocus

Tremendously fun. The effects are certainly dated, but overall I had a lot of fun watching it. I can see why it's become such a cult classic.

The Cell (2000)

Jennifer Lopez assists the FBI to rescue a woman from a crazy serial killer, by entering into his mind through an experimental thought transference technique.

Undoubtedly imaginative, highly ambitious, astonishing special effects etc, but far too 'modern' for my tastes (even though it's almost two decades old by now, LOL), and arguably a bit 'sick' in places.

I was always curious to see this. I just never did.

^ You'd need a strong stomach for a few of the more graphic scenes, plus a bit of endurance, as the film is getting on for two hours long.

There Goes The Bride (1932)

Bought this on VHS from a charity shop about five years ago, and figured it was about time I watched it. Very dated stuff obviously, but perfectly watchable. Jessie Matthews was a very attractive woman in her day, in a late 1920s-early 30s 'Flapperish' kind of way, and a very good comic actress on this evidence.

It took me ages to 'get' the verbal joke in the film's title.

Watched the Osomatsu-san (Mr. Osomatsu) movie. Was very silly, but the end had me in tears.

Have just seen Midway at the cinema... Very Accurate 90% or so ... (surprisingly so), amazing visually(CGI), great acting, with a dedication to both the Japanese and US military who lost their lives. Quite a few familiar actors from shows like "The Man In The High Castle". Definitely recommended viewing...

Stars Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Tadanobu Asano and Woody Harrelson.

Midway(2019)

Corruption (1968)

aka Carnage and Laser Killer

An obscure horror film of sorts, which has been very difficult to obtain (at least in the UK), but is now apparently released on Blu Ray. My copy is on a bootleg dvd, which seems to be from a VHS TV recording, with poor picture quality.

Peter Cushing is a distinguished surgeon, whose fiancée is a photographic model who gets disfigured in a freak accident. Cushing then turns into a serial killer in his quest to obtain the human brain tissue that he uses to repair her face. Who better to play such a role than the man who played Dr Frankenstein in the Hammer films of that era?

The film is pretty nasty and sensationalistic in a few scenes - there's a trailer on YouTube which makes it look considerably more horrible than it actually is, and I'm not going to post it here.
