This movie ROCKS! Go see it ASAP!

Gah! I want to see this, not least of all because I have a thing for Emily Browning.
But I have to go with the boyfriends choice on the next movie night - Paul -_-

I too have a thing for Emily Browning,
Abbie Cornish, and Jena Malone.

Paul looks hilarious and is playing at my neighborhood theater.

"Sucker Punch"

Excellent movie. The visuals were great. I really liked the story, too.

We just watched The Tourist on DVD. An action movie without action - wow.

I recently re-watched both "The Sacrifice" and "Solaris" by Andrei Tarkovsky. I don't know if it's because my brain is in a different place now, but it was like watching the films for the first time. Both films were meaningful in ways I had not seen before. I really love deeply complex films that you can come back to and find something more with every viewing.

I watched the 2002 version of Solaris(which was ok), but haven't seen Tarkovsky's version. I'm reading the book however.

I just saw the Fountain again, and it was just as good as it was the first time through. It's one of the few movies that I can watch multiple times over.

Last night, I watched the entire movie Frankenstein (1931 version) on Youtube. It was okay. I wouldn't say it's my favorite horror film, though.

Cinema
Sucker Punch - Zero characterisation, iffy dialogue and a one dimensional plot = brainless fun with some neat special effects, no matter how hot Vanessa Hudgens looks in a leather outfit wielding a machine gun. Only Abbie Cornish's tough Sweet Pea and Carla Gugino's OTT Madame Gorski keep this from flopping.

Source Code - Think Memento on a train, with a little twist. Very entertaining too.

DVD
Let Me In - Let the Right One In gets the remake treatment, and it's a surprisingly bittersweet and chilling horror. Chloe Moretz's vampire knocks spots off Twilight.

Apocalypse Now: Redux - I needed a second viewing to truly appreciate it, now i will definetely be buying it on DVD!

The Town - Not just your average cops and robbers thriller, Ben Affleck is back on form big time. Maybe he should start directing AND starring in his own movies.

Sky Plus

Cliffhanger - Old school Sly, you now the drill :P

The Lost Boys - Another PROPER vampire movie and a real cult classic.

In Bruges - Funny, in a real black and twisted way. Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell are both brilliant.

We just watched Mirrors II on DVD. For a movie that went directly to DVD, it was pretty decent.

streamed NetFlix: Easy. I skipped through most of it... kinda amused to see Bones was in it... and Margerite Moreau is cool too.

rented NetFlix: Burlesque. kinda has a Coyote Ugly feel to it...in regards to small town waitress heads out to the coast (in this case it's the west coast, not the east coast)...wiggles her way into a VERY popular entertainment venue, and becomes the next best thing! Not a big challenge on Christina Aguilera to do a movie that mainly focuses on her voice. don't get me wrong, I liked the movie...but that's what it all felt like to me.

Saw Source Code yesterday.

Very well done, Duncan Jones definitely has more movies to be directed ahead of him.
