I like Tim Burton's films my favourite ones are Edward Scissorshands and Corpse Bride.

Alice in Wonderland is being shown on TV this saturday night I'm watching it I think Johnny Depps version of the Mad hatter was the best ever, and when Alice was talking to her Dad when she was little that was so sad, I was hoping at the end of the film she was going to stay there.

Oh, yes! I love his work!

Can't wait for Dark Shadows!

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed when Alice didn't stay in Underland. I wholeheartedly agree that JD's Mad Hatter is the best. I also think his versions of Willy Wonka and Sweeney Todd were the best too.

As you can see, I am getting very anxious for Dark Shadows. It's still over 2 months away and yet I am already counting down to it. Every day I check the Internet for news regarding it. There have been lots of new photos lately so I'm hoping that this means that a trailer isn't far behind.

Tim Burton is awesome! Does anyone here think Tim Burton is an Aspie; or is that been said before?

To Idaho Rose: I did read an article that a possible trailer may be released on 3/30 with
Wrath of the Titans. I also did read another article that the reason no preview has been released
is because the studio is having a hard time how to make Dark Shadows marketable.

Thanks for the info Anonymous! Every little bit is more encouraging. It would make sense that a Dark Shadows trailer would be released with Wrath of the Titans because they are both Warner Bros. movies. I will keep my eyes peeled.

Yeah, I had heard that they were having trouble deciding how to market Dark Shadows from an interview with Helena Bonham Carter. Personally I don't see how it would be a difficult sell: Johnny Depp, voted Hottest Man Alive twice, playing a vampire, which is the most alluring supernatural creature (if their constantly sexualized depiction in the media is anything to go by). That's not even getting into the fact that it's based on an existing property, so they're guaranteed viewership from people who are already fans of the original Dark Shadows, plus fans of Tim Burton's movies in general (like myself).

But maybe the fact that they're having trouble deciding how to market it has less to do with the content of the movie than with the tone: I've heard a lot of conflicting reports about whether it's supposed to be a comedy or a drama. If they choose to market it as a comedy, then fans who expected a drama will be upset, and vice-versa. The original Dark Shadows soap opera was apparently supposed to be dramatic, but lots of people found it to be unintentionally hilarious because of its low production values, bloopers, and over-the-top acting. There has been endless speculation since production began on the Burton version about whether he has decided to make it campy, like the original series came across; or dramatic, which is how the original series was intended to come across.

Alice in Wonderland

Yay! Someone else who loves Alice in Wonderland! That's one of my favorites too. My other favorites are Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd and Sleepy Hollow.

If Dark Shadows sucks, which most of us here are hoping it WILL NOT,
there's always Frankenweenie due in October.

I really like Tim Burton. He's one of the very few filmmakers working in Hollywood who's managed to maintain his vision and integrity. (Um, except for Planet of the Apes. But everyone's allowed mistakes, right?)

I borrowed an excellent book on Burton from the library recently. It was originally published in France and then translated into English last year. If you're a Burton fan, I highly recommend you check it out. Very interesting read with a lot of excellent photos in it.

I'm sorry if I offend anybody for saying this, but... In my personal opinion, I don't think Frankenweenie looks very good. But I'm probably majorly biased against it for a couple of reasons:

1) I'm a cat person, not a dog person (unlike our beloved filmmaker extraordinaire) so I don't feel an emotional connection to Sparky (the dog)
2) I don't feel as emotionally connected to Tim's stop-motion works as I do to his live-action stuff (Johnny Depp is probably a major factor there)
3) As childish as this sounds... I'm kind of resentful towards Frankenweenie for getting a trailer before Dark Shadows

Hi idaho rose they're having a Madhatter's tea party in Melbourne over Easter and when I looked the person playing the Mad hatter is dressed like Johnny Depp's mad Hatter.
