Independence Day- not really a script, just a list of trite hyper-jingoistic schtick, one after another.

Avatar, aka Dances with Smurfs

2012

Left Behind- not even Jesus can save Kirk Cameron's career

Looking over the above, I'm realizing the movies I hate all have a common theme: if scriptwriters have to rely on the end of the world as a plot device, it's because the characters they create lack any nuance of motivation.

Evan Almighty {Steve Carell did not need this crap}

The Village {M. Night Shymalan is likely now the biggest joke in Hollywood}

The Happening {Homicidal houseplants...WTH?}

Yeah, someone described it just like that to me--which is why I avoided it.

Speaking of "sappy and sentimental"--PAY IT FORWARD. Decent idea, but that "tearjerker" ending was way too predictable. :roll:

besides shaft, are any Blaxploitation films good?

Black Dynamite (although more of a parody of blaxploitation films) is AMAZING and hilarious.

I don't know if I can realistically come up with twenty of the worst movies, because I make an effort to erase them from memory. But the all time worst movie I've ever seen was the direct to video Captain America. They couldn't even get the Red Skull's nationality right. Instead of a German Nazi, he's an Italian fascist. :roll:

That movie was actually banned from theaters a little while after its release. Too many pedobear moments involving a 15 year old girl and scenes with the Kids drinking beer and getting drunk.

Does anyone remember Mixed Nuts with Steve Martin? I think this is the worst movie I've ever seen him in, though, I haven't seen the Pink Panther. It was a comedy that had absolutely no funny scenes. Horribly dull and just painful to watch.

Highlander 2: The Quickening- This is how a good franchise gets raped. There should've been only one.
Live Free or Die Hard- PG-13. 'Nuff said.
Anything Molly Ringwald has done after 1986
ANY movie with Pauly Shore
The Transformers duology by Michael Bay- If you want definitive proof of what people want from film nowadays, look no further.
Any movie made by Uwe Boll- Moving on...
Juno- Haven't seen much of it, but one thing is for certain: there is no single likeable character in this movie. Just a bunch of lowlifes. Makes the characters in the adaptation of The Informers and William Friedkin's To Live and Die in L.A. look like role models.

Pink Panther remake {Steve Martin did not need this crap}

Cheaper by the Dozen remake {read above comment}

Juno {Hipster garbage}

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen {As an action movie, this movie was AWESOME...but the writing, acting, and directing was just BAD!}

Garden State {More hipster trash...}

Pink Panther 2 {Need I say more?}

Wow most of you guys have missed the mark. It feels like you instead of putting truly god-awful movies, you have instead chosen movies which you personally don't like. "hipster trash"? Those can in no way be the "worst movies ever".

The Worst movie is a movie that Nobody liked, with No redeeming features. It is a movie which is so AWFUL that it IS NOT even AWFUL in a good way. There are movies which are so bad that they are good/funny/amusing that it ends up being a parody of itself. The Worst movie is not one of those. It is awful with no redeeming features whatsoever.

It is a movie which you wanted to/or did walk out of in the theatre.

20 years later you would still walk out of the theatre if it was playing.

40 years later you would still walk out of the theatre even if you WERE being PAID to watch.

I am pretty sure no one liked this abominable atrocity

"Stealth" - oscar to Jamie Fox

Let me repeat STEALTH

I DIDN'T SEE STEALTH!!

But no, you're right, people are posting movies they personally think are over-rated instead of movies that would genuinely qualify as the "worst." I mean There Will Be Blood, c'mon! Whether you liked it or not that was not a bad movie by any means. You can do better than that. Give me some trash!

And yes, Stealth looked really stupid and bad. The trailers made my bad movie radar go nuts so I avoided it.

I feel obligated to comment with a list since I consider myself an expert cinephile and trash/exploitation/b-movies are one of the subcategories of my primary interest. I assume that most readers here will have never seen nor heard of the majority of films I'm about to list and I must forewarn you that these are not even bad in a good way. If you are looking for something more akin to that type of film, let me recommend Troll 2 directed by Claudio Fragasso. It is very entertaining and you might enjoy watching the documentary about this cult phenomenon called The Best Worst Movie afterwards. Currently, this documentary is circulating the film festival circuit. Check out the website for more details: www.bestworstmovie.com

OK, in order of wretchedness and without further adieu...

1. The Exorcist 2
2. Battlefield Earth
3. Headless Eyes
4. Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys
5. Camp Blood
6. Black Devil Doll (the original, shot-on-VHS movie, not the new one aforementioned in this thread made by the guys from Rotten Cotton)
7. Deathstalker 4
8. Slaughtered Vomit Dolls
9. The Pig F!%$ing Movie
10. 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams
11. Simon Sez
12. The Blade Master
13. Hunting Humans
14. Furry Vengeance
15. Billy the Kid vs. Dracula
16. Dracula vs. Frankenstein
17. Freddy Got Fingered
18. El Chupacabra
19. The Neverending Story 3 (as much as I love Jack Black, this film is inexcusable)
20. Grendel
