I'm amazed to have seen how things have changed in the six years I have been congoing. There were more pure anime cosplayers in 06; the offerings of cosplay are more diverse. I say "The more, the merrier!" :D

We're going to the one in Anaheim again. We went last year because you can get in for free, and we're local. I haven't decided whether it's in the budget to pay for tickets and get into the special events, but for us it was just fun to see the open portion and look at the costumes. My daughter threw on a last-minute Winry Rockbell costume since she has long blonde hair and is a teenager. This year she wants a Steampunk look, which I guess isn't too far off the track. They were selling goggles there... and I saw one guy who was definitely Steampunk. I guess I'll have to come up with something for myself, because I'm not sending a 15-year-old to the Convention Center alone.

We have a few cons here in Colorado.

Nan desu con (anime) a great con just a little packed. Has really great guests and sometimes premieres new titles.

Denver comic con. Just started last year, can not say much due to just getting into comics but it looks promising.

A fur con. Never been.

Anime land wasabi (from anime land cons) it is ran in the worst way by people who do not even know anime is from Japan.

Don't see the point in these brony conventions, can't you just enjoy a show without making it a lifestyle?

PS: I am aware of those super obsessed with Star wars/Star trek that have these conventions. Same rules apply for them.

I'm attending this year's BUCK (Brony UK Convention) which takes place in late August at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall. I've only been to one convention before and that was BUCK 2012 & I had a great time! this year will be *cough* at least 20 percent cooler! I'm thinking about going to one of the MCM expos this year.

I would like to make a trip to a con (in the USA) this summer, but can't decide which one. I'm thinking Dragon*Con because it's not just anime or a specific fandom, it's many fandoms that I like. The issue is convincing a friend(s) to go with me... XD

Any suggestions on cons, preferably reachable by a Midwesterner?

Anime Central might be one.
