I was utterly unconvinced by the defence given in interviews by those defending the series, that it was a way of promoting discussion. That's just a fig leaf.

Once again real life catches up with parody...
In the film "Time Bandits" they had a spoof game show "Your money or your life"

Win a million pounds, or get killed?

It can't be long now.

I was wondering how long till someone cottoned onto my Python reference.

I also realised what the difference between the Dutch show, and other reality TV is. This Dutch show is finally a gameshow where lives actually hang in the balance.

Heh, I'm just glad I found it... Otherwise it would have been an entire afternoon of ripping DVDs and editing.

Do any of you think "Deal or No Deal" is silly?

silly is one word for it, s**t would be another.
it is (was) quite popular in the uk, cant think why.
I can't stand Noel Edmonds either. Don't get me started on him.

Believe it or not, our (American) version of Deal or No Deal uses a lot of gimmicks. For example, a contestant might think that their family couldn't make it to the show due to circumstances beyond our control. Then, their family shows up as a surprise!

Our host (Howie Mandel) really keeps the suspense going when this happens.

I saw a clip of the British "Deal or No Deal" once where a contestant won only 10 pounds (I think,) and then Noel had him pick one of three boxes. One of them had a top prize of 15,000 pounds (I think,) and he won it!

Have any more of these gimmicks occurred on British "Deal or No Deal?"

By the way, the name of the company that produces the show is called Endemol, and they are the same people who created the "Organ Donor" game!

I guess you could say that their TV has run its course!

I must admit that I have watched Deal or No Deal before, but I think it's silly how someone wins money just by choosing random numbers.

Their seems to be no gimmicks per se in Australia's Deal or No Deal. Other than the presenter pretending to be on the contestants side. Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it.

Yes!

In England and Australia, it's all the same game!

It's like watching someone play slots on TV!

In Australia, I know Andrew O'Keefe is the host, and there are no gimmicks on the show there!

However, as I said, the company that created that show is called Endemol, and they are the same company that created the "Organ Donor" game! This is why I think shows created by them have run their course!

I know the words "organ donor" in English are in the title of that show, but are they doing this because we don't understand Dutch?
