I have the first one on VHS. All of that was before my time. I'm 17, but I've been watching horror movies since I was 5 or 6. I don't how I managed to get a hold of that movie too.

I have a lot of trouble comparing movies that aren't in the same genre... So these are my top five sappy/inspirational movies since I'm in that sort of mood right now.

Lawrence of Arabia (cinema was made for this film)
2001: A Space Odyssey (best sci-fi)
The Shawshank Redemption (best inspirational)
Amelie (most beautiful)
The Godfather part II (best family movie)

Princess Bride
Princess Mononoke
Hero
Lord of the Rings
Dune (yes, the one directed by David Lynch. I'm one of the few people who actually liked it- loved it, in fact. I think the problem with that movie was that people who hadn't read the book were confused and people who had were disappointed. But it's still frikkin' awesome.)

Yeah, Godfather part I by the way is probably number 6. The reason why I put Godfather II ahead is explicitly for the Little Italy scenes and Vito's rise, it added an extra dimension to the story. I think they should've taken the same approach for the third one but c'est le vie.

I literally fell in love Amelie and I watch it every few months. It's just so absorbing, when I watch it I feel like i'm part of the movie. Silly I know...
