Ive been rewatching C4s 'my new best friend' on youtube today.

Quote:
Could you pass off a complete stranger as your new best friend for one weekend? Six competitors tried to do just that and, with £10,000 up for grabs if they could convince their nearest and dearest that the friendship was genuine, the stakes were high.

But it wasn't easy... Their so-called 'friend' was really an undercover actor hell-bent on causing as much mayhem as possible. His sole aim was to irritate, infuriate and exasperate them into giving the game away. http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/t ... estfriend/

one of my fav episodes - confirming stereotypes about 'internet weirdos' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkSDAB83udo

and so what is all this nonsense that some NTs/people-with-important-looking diagnostic clipboards, have - about aspies not having any sense of humour?
huh? what is it?

i think they are all just jealous because, in fact, our sense of humour is much more refined, superior, highly-evolved.
*ahem*

exactly! I never got the "aspies have no sense of humor" comment. I love Bill Hicks, Lewis Black and Mitch Hedberg. And I think Eddie Izzard is a great comedian. And of course the Pythons. I don't understand how anyone can't find "The Ministry of Silly Walks" and "The Fish Slapping Dance" uproarious. Like most Python fans, I don't like the fourth Cleese-less season (why did they even try?)

The "no sense of humor" comment is most of the time applied to me because I hate Dane Cook and I like "The Office" (my sister can't understand the Office because the humor is too subtle and there's no laugh track to tell her when to laugh, ditto with "Flight of the Conchords". Her kind of "funny" is "Two and a Half Men", another very unfunny show).

The fact that "Two and a Half Men" is the most watched comedy in the US and "Arrested Development" gets canceled is beyond me.

agreed!! ! a year ago i was watching two and a half men and wondered why nothing i was hearing or seeing made me even smile. i've noticed that i've slowly started to despise all sitcoms. i still can't believe that they got rid of arrested development...

i simply must have extras on dvd!

Doctor Who is funny....

Timelash - the Borad makeup is great but those robot voices had my kids an I rolling on the floor in hysterics.

also - do I mention the Bandrils - They'd have been much better off using Basil Brush - at least he doesn't look like a sock.

and what about that bit in the middle of Vengeance on Varos when for no apparent reason, two fully grown men wearing nappies run across the screen. Even Colin Baker and the team doing the commentary burst out laughing when that happened.

Even the new Dr Who has a lot of comedic moments - like the look that David Tennant gives Rose when her "mother" calls the dog.

and what about the whole "I'll bet you're just so - not amused - right now, eh", to Queen Victoria.

and the "hmmm, I might use that" with Shakespeare.

If I can make a recommendation any of you who can get hold of Shooting Stars, watch it! It's probably the funniest British TV show ever. It's a TV panel show with all the standard conventions turned on their head. It has the same kind of surrealness as Monty Python but put into a quiz show.

I just bought Hyperdrive hoping it will be like Red Dwarf.

I've only watched one episode and it feels a little forced compared to Red Dwarf, but is still quite funny.

I loved the aliens who needed to greet people by licking them - "of course, nothing sexual in it, it's just that we have a keen sense of taste".

Another favourite of mine is Alan Partridge, he reminds me of myself actually  and Keeping up Appearance, I know quite a few Mrs Bucket's.

I was reading about a local place id visited last night, and realised that only few hours beforehand id been standing on a past set of peep show. - the church where mark & sophie get married at the end of the last series.

Next time im passing, ill have to resist the temptation to urinate on the corner ;)

hehe. That stuffed parrot is cute.

To get Monty Python stuff, I usually just go to youtube and keyword search Monty Python.

(Or I pull out my trusty videos!)

I love Monty Python and also Dead Ringers.
