X-Men: Apocalypse. Under-rated. I'm not saying it's the greatest superhero film ever, but I've seen far worse films get much better press. This and Dark Phoenix are a bit short on humour, which maybe didn't help them as the mainline Marvel films have spoiled us rotten with sparky dialogue. But it doesn't hurt to play the end of the world straight once in a while.

My family and I enjoyed this very much; definitely one of the better Spider-Man films with some surprisingly funny scenes. Jake Gyllenhaal was great as Mysterio.

Watched Mortal Engines (2018 Release)last night ... Wow! I was in awe of the Steampunk-stylised world of the future, especially seeing the London landmarks and train stations artistically presented in such a way. If I listened to the critics, I wouldn’t have watched it. Well worth a look, that’s for certain, imho. This was originally a series of books. I heard they planned on making subsequent movies ... and hope they eventually do!

I'm not much of a cinema-goer, so I typically see films a couple of years after they come out. Often, that's a couple of years of hearing how "everybody knows" such-and-such a film was a huge disappointment. Then I watch it, and go "What the hell are you talking about? What film did you lot see, 'cos it wasn't this one!"

I went to the movie theater today and watched "Promising Young Woman". There is a genre of films called "Psycho Serial Killer" flicks. This film is not that, but rather quite the opposite. So I guess I would place it in the "anti-Psycho Serial Killer" genre.

Who knows it might be the first film in that category. Most films I can guess the entire plot and the ending within about the first 10 minutes of the film. This one I could not. I had to wait to the very, very, end.

Just me and my N95.

I tend to wait till I’ve seen a film, before looking it up to see how it fared. If we look at the long list of panned movies, among them is Psycho, The Greatest Showman, The Shining, Fight Club, Crash, Peeping Tom(said to be a 1960 Scorsese dark masterpiece).

I’ve just seen Birds of Prey tonight ... will put thoughts on that up tomorrow. Can say it was loads of fun!

watched the TV remake of "fail safe." absorbing with a "you are there" video look to it, like live newscast [albeit in monochrome like an early 60s newscast]. makes me wanna check out the 1964 original.

Cthulhu.

Retelling of Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth, taking place in the near future rather than the 1930's, and in the Pacific Northwest rather than New England. Very good modern take on Lovecraft.
