The Front Room.

A pregnant, African American anthropology professor discovers her husband's familial secrets when they have to take in his racist, religious fanatic step mother, after the death of the husband's father. Soon, they find the old woman is taking over the household playing the helpless victim while trying to turn the couple against each other.
Great psychological horror film.

The Love Factor, a.k.a. Zeta One

A science-fiction comedy. I never laughed, and the plot didn't make a whole lot of sense. Still, I guess that most people aren't watching this one for the plot.

This is Norma Shearer's first talkie, and a must see!! !

Detour.

1945 crime noir film in which a piano player turned hitchhiker tells his story of how he ends up a vagrant wandering the roadways. He claims he was hitchhiking from New York to California to meet up with his sweetheart and musical partner, when the man who picks him up inadvertently dies. Assuming the dead man's identity and taking his car and money, he runs into a female hitchhiker who turns out to be a grifter who blackmails him. The she accidentally dies, too. I'm thinking this is either an unbelievably bad movie, or brilliant storytelling of an unreliable narrator.

Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

Elivis Presley is in a retirement home. He traded palces with an Elvis impersonator (ala The Prince and the Pauper) and the impersonator is the one who died of a heart attack.

Another resident says he's JFK. And that doctors replaced his missing brain part with a bag of sand and turned him into an African American.

They team up to fight a mummy who wears a cowboy hat and boots.

Not particularly funny nor scary, but at least weird.

We think Bubba Ho-Tep [2002] is funny, not too scary, and is definitely entertaining and weird.
