Oh, yeah, also The Truman Show that I see has been mentioned. And Elf. And, though not a movie, the Peanuts Christmas special. And Holiday Inn. And Bachelor Mother. And A Christmas Carol... yeah, I am ready to start watching them all in hopes of seeing them before the end of the season. Last year I hardly got to any.

And Scrooged...

I watched Mozart and the Whale 4 times so far, some of the things I like (other then the main characters Donald and Isabelle) is Donald's group, I would love to have a group like that, its so nice how he takes care of them, and such a good ending too. I thought the scene at the beginning when he leaves the 2 guys in the car was great too, because eventho he does that because the situation is too much, I thought they deserved it ... when they say "you can't leave us like that" I thought "yeah he can, byeeee" lol (I thought they were rude not to at least look at him a little bit when he talked to them).

yes a group like that would be neat. i have been to a few group meetings a long long time ago and while they were all very intelligent, interesting, honest, and young adult, i stopped going mostly because at that time i wasnt officially diagnosed yet and/or didnt accept my asperger's yet. i was still in denial or thinking it was someone else's problem with me. and a girl like isabelle would be good too especially if she is as creative, expressive, fun natured, and just plain sweet like she was.

yeah Isabelle was great :)

I liked the movie Adam too (another one about Aspergers) but didn't like the ending that much, eventho it is positive too in a different way.

It is essential to get that particular version of A Room with a View, too... I saw one on PBS that was cold and emotionless to begin with, and then tacked on a made-up ending that made it a feel bloody rotten movie. Since when did George die in the Great War? Bleah. I would have expected better of PBS... I figured with all their talk they'd be focused on keeping the story true to the book... but they don't do that so much anymore, do they?

Eh??? What on earth possessed them to 'add' that to the story? The original's perfect as it is... Plus, the MI production makes good use of Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro, one of the most beautiful pieces of opera music ever written. I always shed happy tears when it's played over the final scene.

Seriously... There I was, thinking this held no candle to the older film as that one had passion, romance, artistry and humor... but I figured at least the reveal at the end where she finally owns up and gets over herself and makes things right would be worth all, surely they couldn't muff that. Then they did. All of a sudden they're in the sack and then bombs are falling and then she's gotten a telegram or something and is walking all alone in London, post-war. And me with my mouth hanging open and getting more indignant with every passing second.

Did I mention How to Train Your Dragon? That one gives me a lot of happy.

Hmm... it's not the kind of movie I usually like to watch in the first place... but if I had to choose one, I think the one I'd choose is The Terminal. The whole idea of being caught in an airport terminal and forced to live there for a while was one that I found really interesting. Not to mention, it was entertaining to see Tom Hanks do a (fictional) Slavic accent.

The only problem I had was with the jerk father. Unfortunately that's how a lot of NTs in general see anyone with Aspergers. I'm less awkward than Adam...don't talk about special interests as soon as I meet a stranger...but I get judged for simply having that "different" vibe appearance wise since I clearly stand out from NTs.

Also, not to nitpick, but one can argue that a woman that attractive wouldn't have had anything to do with Adam in the first place. But that's why it's a movie.

@ Niles I was going to reply to one of your thread a few hours ago where you mentioned Adam, but by the time I finished writing my reply your thread was gone. I was going to say something about the ending too.

I agree with you about the father, he was so shallow ... but I disagree about the attractive woman with a guy like Adam tho, I thought they were great as a couple ... until she insisted on the words - sometimes meaningless - "I love you" :( The ending still was positive in a different way tho.

I agree the ending was positive. It's not like she dumped him because of the reasons the father wanted her to or because she hated him.

True! at least it was her own decision and they were still friends.

Yes. Maybe there will be a 2nd movie, with Adam and Beth back together. I was just so hoping they would end up together :?

I'm sure in their minds though they thought they had greatly improved it...

Continuing on the costume drama vein, it's not a film but the BBC TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is fantastic.
