Uh, Nintendo is still important. The fact that they are not #1 is irrelevant. Microsoft and Sony are too big to be taking risks, but Nintendo is in a great position. If the revolution fails, not problem. Remember, they own the portable market. They'll just conjure up money from that and release another system. But the point is if they're not, then others will follow suit and the gaming industry can advance. Where do you think the analog came from? Rumble pack? Digital pad, etc... the fact is Nintendo may not have invented them but they implemented them better then any other company. You are completely naive to discount Nintendo as being unimportant.

BTW, I own a PS2 too. But s'cuse me for wanting something more besides just prettier graphics each generation.

Yes i know companies rip off other companies ideas and the N64 controller is a good example of it. Good business sense by Sony. It was a bit silly of Ninty to show it off so early. I really dont think this controller is a good idea though only time can tell.

There are lots of features with PS3 and 360 that the Revelution doesnt have though cant be bothered going into them. The Graphics and higher intelligence of these machines will be there for everyone to see though. The Graphic improvements are great, the PS3 is 50 times more powerful than the PS2.

IMO Sony will own the handheld market outwith Japan in a couple of years too despite Sony's usual production delay rubbish that always seems to happen. You couldnt pay me to use a DS.

Sony also promised us that PS2 would have 'toy story' graphics and you know where that got us.

EDIT: forget it, you're a smart chap so I'm not gonna patronize.

Its not promises anymore. Both 360's and PS3's specifications have been released and Ninty admitted that they cant compete on the graphics/processor front.[/quote]

lol, good one but that was in reference to something else.

I'll put it up for you:

"Take company propaganda with a grain of salt."

No harm done m8?

I've seen screenshots of PS3 games but all have 'work-in-progress' on them. Are they renders or real-time screenshots?

Im still not sure what you meant but no harm done. You are right about Sony not showing real-time screenshots yet though the specifications of it are impressive. X-box 360 has shown screenshots however and they look sweet. I must admit im not happy with the way they have upped the graphics and expect the consumer to pay a little extra for it (in unit price and for games) so no-one would be more delighted than me if the (according to Nintendo) cheaper Revolution sold well and got good third party support. (though i still dont like the controller but would have to use it to be sure)

No they didn't, what they said is that people put to much emphasis on graphics, Iwata very explicitly said that the Revolution graphics will be "competitive". Edit: I do think PS3 and Xbox 360 will have better graphics then the Revolution.

Not important? They're the second largest publisher in the industry (behind EA).

Nintendo had the best graphics this generation (though the public and the media were deceived by the "higher" CPU speed). If you want proof just look at Star Wars Rogue Squadron III, with the highest poly count of any released console game yet and multiple textures and lighting effects applied to just about everything, it is without compare in the console market.

So far the DS has outsold the PSP nearly 2-to-1 and the GBA continues to sell well.

I thought Eamonn was a Socialist, but apparently he is delighted by the idea of mega-corporations crushing smaller companies and becoming even wealthier and bigger monopolies. :P

But anway, the DS is outselling the PSP so far... AND let's not forget the next Gameboy will be coming out in 2007 or so. Once the next Gameboy is released everyone will forget about the PSP. Remember, the DS is not the PSP's competitor. It is a third pillar, according to Nintendo. The fact that the DS is not meant to compete with the PSP and crushes it in sales anyway says alot.

Edit: As for graphics, if that is all you care about you might as well watch a movie. After all, movies offer more realistic graphics than any video game ever could.

I don't like the DS or PSP, but that's an entirely different aargument.

All I plan on buying is the Revolution, and that'll probably be the only system I'll buy for a long time, being the old school gamer I am. I'll probably just sit out the next few generations until gaming seems worthwhile again. Until then, have your fun arguing over which worthless clone is better. Originality is my best friend, and it's moved away. XBOX 360 and PS3 are the same in my mind, they'll have a very similar set of games and almost no unique-ness.

They also say that the graphics of the DS is competitive with the PSP but have a look at the graphics difference. Everyone knows that the Revolution will get owned when it comes to graphics. Nintendo have all but admitted it.

I meant their no longer important as home console players. I believe however it is the third largest games publisher behind Sony though some reports appear to put Microsoft ahead.

I believe it has the second best graphics behind the X-box though when it comes to games most of their graphics is behind Playstation 2's also partly due to the slow cpu speed and partly due to Nintendo aiming for the kiddy market and releasing games of poor overly colourful graphics. I also noticed a lot of bluriness in the graphics.

That is the figure from Japan isnt it? I never mentioned there, though it was in large part due to manufacturing problems and dead pixels. I expect the PSP to become the main players in the handheld market in Europe within the next few years. Though i believe Nintendo's handhelds will still be popular with their main market of schoolkids.

I dont take delight in it but im also a realist and dont let being a fanboy stop me from admitting the truth.

It seems that you are getting the excuses in early for PSP's inevitable ownage of the DS. I will look forward to see the next gameboy. They will probably call it the gameboy miniscule and have the same graphics but even smaller and still aim it towards its main market of seven year olds. How revolutionary.

Well if graphics arent important why do Nintendo release new consoles all the time? Why not stick to the NES system and keep making new controllers for it? :P . Besides there is far more features to the big two consoles than the "Revolution" could dream about or Nintendo could afford. An ownage all round i think before it is even released.

Have fun with all six games it will have for the first year of its release while everyone else is tuned into the next generation. Mario Revolution. Mario party revolution. Zelda R, Super mario tennisR, super mario golfR and Nintendogs. Lalol.
