I love this show. Sheldon reminds me of me, except I never tell people about my specifications (ie, if someone sits in "my chair", I will be very, very angry, but I will internalize it instead of giving out strikes). My mom also thinks that my friends and I are exactly like the guys on this show because we're Gifted/geeks (she's not wrong).

And one more thing: Sheldon's forced smile is the single funniest thing I have seen on television. "We're here to see Koothrappali, not kill Batman!"

Yes, Sheldon is definitely an Aspie, but the shows seems to represent it as that only geniuses have AS. That's what I am getting from it. Not all of us have sky-high IQs.

Loving it. Very much relate to Sheldon (although my coping skills are somewhat better ).

The explanation of the use of the fork with Thai food is an episode drawn almost verbatim from my life.

I love this show! I think Sheldon is very aspie. Everyone I know says I'm like him. I have "my spot" on the couch and I'm so particular about how I do things.

I love Sheldon.

The guy is awesome in every aspect. I actually wish I was more like him and less like Raj

The show mentions nothing about AS.

You know there are differences between:
- Asperger syndrome.
- Social anxiety.
- Lack of social skills.
- Intellectual giftedness

The show just shows 4 guys with mixed amounts of the three last. Sheldon has tons of AS traits but he also has tons of traits for other things. (He is gifted, he is most likely asexual) which are not necessarily part of AS even though they may be more frequent in AS people (not sure about it)

Caricature, over generalization, whatever. As a facade he's more convincing to me than the character of Jerry Espenson from Boston Legal. I really enjoyed the character of Jerry. But he always seemed over the top while making it frequently mentioned he was an Aspie. And the actor playing Jerry, Christian Clemenson, did win an Emmy for the role.

I had Sheldon pegged as one of us from the very first episode my wife and I ever watched. I like the fact that an Aspie is portrayed as confident, intelligent, and with a bright future ahead of him, even though his unintended rudeness, quirkiness, and social awkwardness are the butt of most of the show's humor. But I never saw this humor at Sheldon's expense as portraying people with Asperger's in a negative light.

Sheldon, in last night's episode, is obviously AS from the flashbacks.

Is it OK to call Sheldon a "jerk" when it's the way he is, with AS?

I must say, after last night's episode, I lost a lot of respect for Sheldon due to his dislike of Babylon 5.

How come? Personally, I think Leonard is cooler than Sheldon.

Howard and Raj are hilarious and Penny is just adorable.

Because as smart as Sheldon is, he should realize that Babylon 5, if not the best TV show ever made, is at least the best science fiction show ever made

Hi ......Alicat I completely agree with you. Sheldon is the soul of The Big Bang Theory TV show. I just love this show.

I think all four of the main male characters have some form of AS. Trust me, I've met (and am friends with) plenty of Aspies who don't exactly SEEM Aspie (I wish I could count myself as one, but people generally seem to detect that there's just something "different" about me, lol), which I why I think this. Sheldon, of course, as many of you have already said, is the ultimate Aspie in the show!! I consider myself to be more of a Leonard personality with Sheldon-esque quirks Leonard certainly has a better handle on social skills and less particularities than Sheldon, though I still wouldn't disqualify him from being Aspie - IMO, he has SOME traits of it. Raj already has the "confirmed" diagnosis of selective mutism on the show, but it seems like other times (though not that often) he can just be more generally clueless, so I'd also count him as a member of the spectrum. And, yes, I've EVEN known some Aspies who are like Howard - both the sexual aspects AND the overconfident aspects.

As minor characters go, Leslie is the second most obvious Aspie to Sheldon IMO, and Barry, in spite of the way he talks, seems to alternate between being Aspie and just plain old jerk (though he is more so the latter). Bernadette merely LOOKS "nerdy", but probably isn't an Aspie.

And Penny...well...she's like that stereotypical "normal" girl that a "nerd" and/or Aspie might be likely to have a crush on, esp. in high school (I know the characters are older than that, but Penny seems more like a high school stereotype than the other characters on the show).

I love the show. I think Sheldon is hilarious, the show would be dead without him. I saw an interview with him in real life...I've found a celebrity crush I think
