I watched Equestria Girls on Youtube last night....I actually ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would, even though all the pony characters are human throughout most of the movie and it takes place at a high school. The main focus of the film is still on My Little Pony, regardless of the whole "alternate universe" thing going on.

Tried Cherry Bomb - one of Rupert Grint's (Ron from Harry Potter) breakaway films (bored Irish teenagers throw caution to the winds and do whatever they feel like one weekend, leading to disastrous consequences), but that was kind of weird. Not because it was Irish (I really enjoyed the Magdalene Sisters for example - examining a young woman's attempt to break away from a particularly sadistic Catholic Aslyum, heavily based on the real accounts of those unfortunate women subject to them in the 1960s) but... I dunno... I can't say I particularly liked this film... shame.

On the other hand, Rabbit-Proof Fence was a pretty good rewatch (an Australian number examining two Aborigine's attempts to return to their Jigalong community from whence they were abducted - it's set in the 1930s) girls taken away from their mother. And I totally loved Helena Boham-Carter in Burton and Taylor; when she's away from her husband and/or not cast into 1-dimensional character roles, she's actually a pretty good actress. Shame it'll be the last BBC film production, darn cutbacks...

The Wolverine

Not as good as X-Men: First Class, but a much better movie
than both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

In this new film, Logan goes to Japan where he encounters an old acquaintance and fights his inner demons.

Actually, The Magdalene Sisters is also British as well. The cast were from England and Ireland, but it was actually shot in Scotland and the director of the film, Peter Mullan, is Scottish.

It's one of my favourite films but I've read that, if anything, that The Magdalene Sisters is mild compared to what actually happened to people in there.

Thunderball

It was good for the most part. The underwater scenes were well shot for the most part. However, I thought the pacing was a bit slow at some parts like the underwater as after a while, I got bored. Also, I lost count of how many Bond girls there were.

Now You See Me---VERY interesting film with a lot of nice effects, and a plot that kept me hooked until the end.

Lee Daniels' The Butler. I really enjoyed it, though the pacing seemed inconsistent in various places.

The 2010 remake of Total Recall with Colin Farrell. I liked it more than I thought I would because the story was easier to follow and not so overwhelmed by a cartoonish lead actor as in the original.

Also, Oblivion (2013) which was one of the best looking CGI films I've seen in a while. Initially, a slow moving but engrossing story which became more contrived and confusing as it progressed.

Solomon Kane.

A movie based on one of Robert E. Howard's lesser known heroes. Other than being a 17th century English Puritan swordsman, the movie had little to do with Howard's fiction.

It seems to be Schwarzenegger week on RTL 7 here, so I just saw 'Running Man' and 'Conan The Barbarian'. Both were entertaining silly 80s action fun, good times.

Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu Ray-Awesome movie. Wrath of Khan is still the best one though but this counts as either my second or third.

Iron Man III.

Great action scenes - especially liked how Tony Stark was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. But why did they have to have the Mandarin be fake?
